The fact that he was out there with Mono shows something to me..
Girgensons played 2 periods of a playoff game with a broken jaw.
We have two VERY good players right there.
Vanek - Hodge - Pommer
Foligno - Ennis - Stafford
Ott - Grigorenko - Girgensons
Leino/Tropp/Gerbe - McM - Kaleta
I think Tropp goes to the A because he still has that option where the Gerbe and Leino do not. - JVince11
this is literally thinking what the lines might be this year.....we are in trouble |

it is just my assumption... my 2 cents...
he shows good traits out there.. but you can't give a guy that doesn't score an extension making more than 1.5M that he is already based solely on that he gives a ton of heart.. and skates really fast. |

What do you all think the special teams lines will look like?
1st PP: Vanek, Hodgson, Ennis, Pommer, Myers
2nd PP: Grigs, Ott, Stafford, Leo, Ehrhoff
1st PK: Girgs, Pommer, Regher, Ehrhoff
2nd PK: Ott, Kaleta, Myers, Sekera
I'm sure this will take some tinkering but just thought I would get this convo going.

No offense (and I like Nathan, don't get me wrong), but if Gerbe is on anything other than your 3rd or 4th line, your team is in trouble. - Powerslave
idk . he had a bad sophomore season.. I 'm hoping he's on the 3rd line this year
he could hit 15g 20a .. ( my hope is 20-20 ) but i don't think that will happen |

yea RNH makes 2.85M in bonuses... guy was a #1 overall pick. Grigs was 12th. |

heres how i would roll the forwards:
Leino- Grigs - poms
Vanek- hodgson- tropp
Foligno- Ennis- staff
Ott- Mcm - Kaleta
So basically i just replace Roy with Grigorenko. Grigs is a playmaking center ... i really wouldnt want to see him on the "3rd line" with Ott / Gerbe or what ever "grinder" you put with Ott. |

i don't know what any of that means. i'm not a Leaf fan. i just think that's a crazy assumption, that people don't pursue an education because there aren't enough jobs to go around. |

I hate that 4 F's thing.. I didn't think we did that as much last year as we had in previous years.
I think Grigs and Big Z need to be brought in slowly to Special teams.. i think they both will be vital for the future teams with Grigs on PP and Girgensons on PK.. but I think we let the other more experienced and vet guys handle that responsibility while we have them. |

It's not even close to that. They may blame it on that, it's mostly because they are just lazy and want to take the easy way out.
They havent realized not everyone is an actor, athlete or a rockstar yet. They are still holding on to that dream. |

I always forget Sulzer too. You think we would split up the Foligno, Ennis and Stafford on the PP? I'm not sure if Foligno would be on there or not, I know with the chemistry they showed at the end of last year it would be pretty tough.

size and durability come into play.. he needs to be in a 3rd line or up duty and if he is on anything other than your 4th line your team is in trouble.. i just think he is screwed. maybe i am wrong but i dont see a spot for him in buffalo for much longer.. |

its not "3rd line" anymore.. its just ou r3rd scoring line.. we have heard all along that we are moving to 3 scoring lines and not a checking and defense group.
I don't mind Grigorenko taking 1C but I think it would be mid year before it happens.. Tropp was decent but I think if we put him with vanek and Hodge it would hurt their production because he is not an offensive threat but on the other hand Vanek is equivilent to a folding chair on defense and Hodge is still unproven but shown good traits on defense. |

ive never questioned his durability i think his 1mil+ contract hurts him a great deal and no room left time to move on and wish him the best. |

Then how the poop is nugent hopkins making 3.75 a year. Did Edmonton load on with bonuses and incentives? - ImThatGuy
I answered this in another post just a little bit after that.
There are 2 types of bonuses.
Schedule A -- paid by the team. They include bonuses for reaching certain goals, assists, points, points per game, plus minus, ice time, among a few others.
The maximum under any item a team can pay out is $212,500. For example, they can pay a player $212,500 for reaching 25 goals, or they can pay a player $100,000 for reaching 20 goals and then another $112,500 for reaching 25 goals.
The maximum COMBINED bonus under schedule A cant exceed $850,000. So if the team pays out bonuses for reaching a certain amount of ice time, goals, assists, plus minus and points per game, the maximum total is $850,000.
Schedule B -- player WILL get paid by the league for these bonuses. Also, the team can negotiate their own bonus pay for reaching these bonuses.
There bonuses include placing for trophies and placing in league stats. There is a structured pay schedule outlined in the CBA.
The maximum a team can pay out for reaching any of these bonuses is $2M.
So a player can earn a maximum ELC cap value of:
$925,000 (salary, including the $92,500 SB)
$850,000 (Schedule A bonus max)
$2,000,000 (Schedule B bonus max)
$3,775,000 Cap Hit
From what I've seen out of Buffalo from their past players, they hardly ever give bonuses based on the Schedule B. If a player reaches those bonuses, they will be paid by the league.
So Grigorenko earned a max contract according to Buffalo standards -- $1,775,000 |

It is starting to head that way. I will be 27 in September. I grew up at the very end of the "go to college and get you're basically guaranteed a good job" era, and was lucky enough to succeed with that course (I'm a CPA). Now, the costs of education to the student himself, whether public or private, increase exponentially, combined with the fact that the economy is getting its ass handed to it, and all of a sudden college is no longer the almost sure bet it used to be. You will always have your loafers, but the incentive to loaf is increasing. |
