If we got Doan, Statsny (by trading stafford) and Ryan (by trading ennis), would we be much better or closer to being the San Jose Sharks? I'll hang up and listen. |

the NHL standings and geography.
it's tough for a harsh-weather small market city to be attractive to UFAs unless they're contenders. hell, even huge markets like Montreal and Toronto are unattractive destinations unless they're good teams. - DoubleDown

Cant argue either point, but with guys like Doan, Buffalo is an attractive destination due to the family environment both the city and team possess. And Doan certainly comes off as a family first type guy. That may not appeal to all players, but it certainly has helped Buffalo land and keep the players they have |

if you look at how the played when healthy and the moves they have made you have to think they are moving in the right direction to become a contender as well |

i think either way the preds match this ...... i think they ve been hoping / dreaming of a team dropping a large offer sheet / contract and they simply just match it. Because now they have a top 3 NHL D on there roster for 14 years!
and it was smart for the flyers because now no east team can get him ..... but if the preds decline to match. The flyers are in some cap trouble! and just imagine what Claude Giroux is thinking .....if weber got 100 million. What am i worth? - buffalofan1027

absolutely.
I think this year they are a fringe playoff team with the young kids they have growing into new roles. A year from now, with another aggressive move or 2, id say they are right in the thick of the East |

True Story..
Every season the Predators put signs in their arena that they are that year's Stanley Cup Champions before the first game of the year has even been played. Signs remain the entire year. |

So the owners are complaining about revenue.
Ala Greg Wyshynski. If I am Donal Fehr, in response to teh NHL's proposal I slam a picture of Shea Weber in a Flyers jersey down and say stop wasting our ****** time |

They may not have the funds to match it. 13 million in bonuses in each of the first 4 years, 1 million in salary.
Nashville is really in a tough situation here. |

I hope Nashville let's Shea go to Philly.
That way at the trade deadline we can trade McCormick to Nashville for one of those first round picks they obtained.
