If the contract doesn't include a NTC or NMC, he could demand a trade out of Nashville after they match. I wonder if the Flyers left out a NTC or NMC for that reason and have a deal in place to offer if the Predators match. - rcostel77
An offer sheet can't include a NTC or any other clause. Straight amount and term, with the money able to be structured in different ways, as in front loaded. |

That's the one possible catch for Nashville. May be too much up front in real dollars, but who knows. I say they keep him and send Holmgren a fruit basket come X-mas. |

When you think about that, it would be funny as hell if they could.

I don't think it matters. Not matching this would send a message to their fans and the rest of the NHL. They'll match. They have plenty of cap space to do so. |

Cap yes, but say the deal includes bonuses that would shell out over $20mm for him next year. Not sure Nashville has that kind of money available. |

Its going to be fascinating to see financial terms of Weber's offer sheet. Hearing in one calendar year, he could make $26 mil.

That is what might be a hangup for Nashville, but I bet they match. After losing Suter, they have to match. Kind of like how when the Sabres lost Drury and Briere and Vanek signed his offer sheet with the Oilers.
The Sabres should not have matched the offer from Edmonton. They were destined to finish low for a few more years and the Sabres would have had 4 high draft picks. The Predators will be stuck with picks in the mid to late 20's in the 1st round for 4 years. They have to match. |

I would agree but they currently have the smallest payroll in the league. They might not be able to bring in anyone else but if they could afford Suter then I thin kthey can take this |

Oh God yes I agree. makes you wonder why the Oilers were willing to pay so much and give up 4 years of high draft picks for him. Makes Kevin Lowe look like a bit of an idiot. |

If Nashville doesn't match, they'll be left with 3 or 4 defensemen. That's good for Buffalo. |

Detroit needs help on D as well. Their cupboards are looking mighty thin at that position. |

Unless they completed the trade and filed it with the NHL before Philly did the offer sheet......wait and see. |
