I'm starting to think the Flyers did this to get the Shea Webber thing resolved.l It seems that the Preds where shopping him around and it was obvious he wasn't going to sign for what they were offerings. The money they were offering was probably okay, so I would think he wanted a longer contract with more money upfront and that was the sticking point. The Flyers have an offer on the table for Bobby Ryan and this needs to get resolved before they move on. The Flyers need a defenceman more than they need a forward and the Preds were screwing around figuring they have a year to get this resolved.

Valid question. Nashville has always been budget conscious but I think they'll figure it out. They lose Weber and imo the franchise probably can't recover. Pay one guy a big bonus or risk insolvency. Can't see them not matching. No reason at all they don't.
