Lol you see theat 6.5 million subsidies....are they going to ask the tax payers to pay weber lol - Philly1980
Just looking at their 2011 player budget, of 50 mill... it would be 73 mill this year just to reach cap floor WITH Weber. |

I absolutely loathe his opin but in no way did it warrant a report. He's actually bringing some good thinking to the board... oh wait isn't that against the rules? - JoeRussomanno
My thoughts exactly...he couldn't have been trolling any less. He was having a legitimate conversation from a non-Flyers fans perspective. Some guys just think trolling is any fan of any team other than their own voicing an opinion. |

Assuming that's legit, it's just the "hockey" p&l. If the parent company income statement (and balance sheet cash flow statements) can support it and ownership is willing to pay for Weber it will happen and the "hockey" p&l will just look worse. |

Do these unwarranted occurrences tend to happen more in the summertime i.e when school is not in session, just curious. |

Looking at the 6 year numbers on JUST Rinne and Weber... is crazy.. add in say an addition 30 mill per year (super low ball) for the rest of the team...
64 over 6 years for weber.
42 over 6 years for Rinne.
30x6 over 6 years for the rest= 180
180+64+42=286 million in 6 years... for a team who would like bring in around only 156 million in ticket sales. I understand that ticket sales are not the only way bills get paid, but that is a scarrrrrrrrry figure. - jak521

Hmmmm, I don't think so, maybe a little bit more.
Well, the trolling definitely goes up but those guys aren't around long due to the fact that they do not possess the ability to post without calling someone names or swearing like crazy. |

Is the NHL team the only business these owners are in? Or is the team part of a portfolio of things they own? I honestly don't know. I'm just thinking about this from the perspective of a corporation owned team (Flyers). |

Seriously what are they going to pay him with???? Monopoly Money. Analyse the financials over the next five years then come talk to me....Some billionaire is going to come in and save a player who doesnt want to go to the evil flyers....gimme a break man. .. the guy said hes done with nashville...signing him is a very big risk!
in fact if they do sign him it pretty much sinks that org financially...no one is going to want to come and see a loosing preds team anyways!
Its not impossible for them to match it would just be stupid.
What no one here has asked is that if he decided to sit out for a year or two does he still get the money... - Philly1980
Has nothing to do do with who signed him to the offer sheet. Like I said would be happy to see him out of the West, and being a King's fan there a lots of ties to the Flyers, so I do like them
Weber understands the risk of an offer sheet, if he really wanted out of Nashville he should have waited a year.. But now he risks being with the
team for 14 years.. No contract would allow a guy who chooses to sit our or 2..
and still get paid. Now in terms of Cap hit, it would apply, Tim Thomas as an example.
The league is probably not going to miss a winter classic with Detroit and Toronto this year. So the risk of no season is pretty low.
I am sure that Nashville is analyzing the financials right now (unlike you or I).
You have to look at ticket sales, marketing, and playoff probability with or without the guy.
You also have to look at if they let him go, what kind of success would Nashville have trying to bring in Free Agents..
The 4 first rounders, would fall anywhere from 14-30 on a given year assuming Philly makes the play-offs..
What about the salary cap after CBA, if these large contracts are somehow grandfathered in and the Cap hit drops, will that mean overall players salary's will drop? Thus reducing your overall costs, and margins increase?
It was rumored they offered a similar contract to Suter, that he ended up taking with the Wild wanting to play with Parise. So seems they are willing to pony up though this offer sheet does have a couple of poison pills in it.
Nashville will take most if not all of the 7 days, there is lots to consider and there is risk no matter what they decide. |

Sorry about the troll comment. That was not necessary. It was taken as more of an offense than intended. The rest of my post is still valid. |
