His agent has stated that he would be agreeable to coming back to the organization and that fences could be mended so to say.....he left that door open. - Just5
the interview I heard made it clear that he's ready to move on, but he can be counted on to be professional. remember that weber had to make a move before the CBA to get this kind of $$. |

still think its the Schenn bros. - vejim
I really think it will be the Schenn brothers too, maybe even a draft pick. I don't want to see them go. They want a decent defenseman not coming back from injury- that's either Luke or Coburn. The whole Schenn Brothers thing is something Nashville can advertise moving forward |

Like I said Voracek and MAB. I can see the Flyers doing that. Anything else is an overpayment IMO. - stveshdy
I think Nashville didnt want JVR, so Homer aquired L Schenn and drafted Laughton to replace B Schenn....deal will be the Schenn Bros and picks |

Don't see that happening at all. Homer refused to trade Schenn.
Thats too much IMO for a team that probably cant match the offer. |

IMO, Nashville has nothing to go on. They tried to strong arm Homer in making a deal and they couldnt agree. Nashville was then warned an offer sheet would be coming. I'm not sure they expected the Flyers to throw the kitchen sink at Weber but thats what they did. The Flyers will be fine with or without Weber. The decision is up to Nashville. I would not trade any valuable assets thats just me. I'm not against other peoples ideas but I just dont see the need to cave to Nashville. - stveshdy
I see it that the Flyers really really want Weber and getting NHL players is better for Preds than draft choices. They have that to go on knowing Philly wants him. I agree the Flyers will be fine either way but if (and a big if) Nashville says ok, Read, Meszaros and 2 firsts for compensation- if you are Homer you have to listen and consider that instead of saying "It's simply match or don't match" |

Suter, Rhine, and weber were not getting those mega deals...bottom line is look at the loses...it costs more to run a team than player salaries. Also my friend the only reason their revenues went up is dude to the revenue sharing in the league....All their other venues of making money have been the same! - Philly1980
No. the 11m figure I got was by adding increases to tix sales + Arena revenue + TV revenue. Assuming these figures are correct! |

Darren Dreger reported Flyers refused to trade both Couturier AND Schenn. I think Couturier is more valuable to the Flyers than Schenn is.

Maybe I'm looking at this offer sheet completely different. The Flyers offered him a sheet knowing he could end up in Nashville. They tried to work out a deal but Homer doesnt want to give up his young guys. Why would they trade the Schenn's and 1st round picks for Weber now? I dont get it. |

I'm sure he will consider listening but Homer isn't losing anything (on current team) if Nashville matches. Does it suck to lose Weber? Sure. The Flyers will still have money to add other guys next offseason and improve the team. Weber doesnt guarantee you a cup. I dont get the point in caving into Nashvilles demands. |

Is that the Kovalchuk rule or something that was in the CBA when first written? If it was already there, why was there a fiasco with Kovalchuk? - eayost
Same reason why there is going to be a fiasco over this move. Teams find the loopholes and use the rules to their advantage. The Kovalchuk rule was an adendum added later, after the initial contract was ruled as circumventing the Cap. |

Problem is the Flyers have Weber signed to an offer sheet now. They dont have to trade anyone. They can wait and say we made an effort to get Weber but Nashville decided to match. Theres nothing wrong with that. They have money to get other defenseman this year or next year if they like. Weber doesnt guarantee a cup. |

Supposing Nashville ownership decides begrudgingly that they will match the offer, the fact that if it is negotiated the Flyers would sent both Schenns and say a draft pick for Weber, it gives the Preds something else to consider hockey-wise since it is pretty clear Weber doesnt want to be there but knowing Nashville could match the offer, he'd be a good solider about it. Nashville may think maybe this wouldn't be such a bad deal after all.... Especially if the situation implodes and they have to move a disgruntled Weber after year 1, the Schenns and a pick could be the best they would get in the long run.

Yea, what thought I saw of Couturier coming out was his scoring ability, his D play was amazing last year. I think he has a great shot that will show itself this year. |

Looking at the deal from just years and money....how is it any different from the parise/suter deals? Whats strange about it is the amount of signing bonus money early on. But that doesn't affect cap hit if its allocated in signing bonus or salary right? So bottom line I see no difference in the deal as opposed to the Wild's dealings. - Just5
Absolutely the signing bonus affects the cap hit. A signing bonus is just salary paid up front. |

completely disagree w/ that statement.
this team right now is not as good as last yr and the loss of pronger was palpable. part of going for it and being all in is closing the deal...not walking away saying "well, we tried" |

Giving up more for Weber weakens the team IMO. Your getting one player back and letting go multiple on top of what you already lost.
How is that better? |
