The agent needs to keep saying how Weber wants to be in Philly, works totally in our favor |

I'd say maybe even a higher chance for them getting Weber. I just dont see how Nashville would be able to risk paying him that money. They wont have enough for him and Rinne plus everyone else, especially knowing that there could possibly be a shortened season. |

I'd stick to my guns, but if I thought I had to give them some money towards the floor I'd go Meszaros and 3 1s for weber and a 3rd. they can exhange 1s for approved prospects and I might waive the 3rd if they take Shelly and walker |

I don't think they should trade Shelley because he knows the best salt to butter ratio for popcorn. |

I think Nashville would love to keep Weber but the longer it goes the more confidence I have that they can't match. Wouldnt surprise me if there trying to come up with ways to get that money but they would be in some serious trouble if the season doesn't start on time bc they do rely on ticket revenue. |

You think Nashville will be able to get all 6 owners to agree on matching for Weber, even though they dont have the money to give him? |

I think he deserves some criticism. Maybe not as much as he's getting, but some.
He had lots of time to lock up both Weber and Suter before they hit free agency and he failed. Rather spectacularly in the case of Weber - that $4M arbitration offer was absurd, and to compare him to Yandle, etc. is asinine.
If had offered say, $6.2M to Suter and $6.8M to Weber last year, they both would probably still be Preds. Those were big numbers last year, and would have seemed like overpaying. But they seem like a steal now given what has transpired. For a team that supposedly has the money to match any offer sheet, they were pretty stupid with how they used it. If not outright stupid, at least very short-sighted not to have anticipated the rise in FA salaries that occurs every single year. - BringBack25
Did he fail? Or was the best offer he was authorized to make, not good enough to get it done? There are many questions. Who made the decision to take Weber to Arbitration? Arbitration is not the same as negotiating a contract. It's not about making a fair offer. It's about intentionally low balling the player. That's what it's about. Offered 6.8M to Weber last year? When he was already making 7.5M. What I'm saying is we don't know who was calling the shots as far as finances are concerned. And it's really unfair to criticize from the cheap seats when we don't know what transpired. I'm not saying Poile doesn't deserve criticism. Maybe he deserves all of it. Maybe he royally screwed this whole thing up. But I don't know that. And to think that I do, is assuming an awful lot of facts not in evidence. |

If the season doesnt start on time and they keep Weber, the franchise will be 120 percent devastated and who knows what would happen to the franchise then, they'd be gone. Atleast if you do a trade or take the picks, you will still be fairly competitive and have a future, plus you have a top 3 goalie and still one of the better blue lines in the league. Plus the guy doesn't even want to be in Nashville, the dude wants out. The fans already know he wants out so why would they want to have a Captain on the team that doesnt even want to be there? The locker room would be destroyed. |

I think they lose more money if he goes rather than stay. They will wait till the 11th hour to match. To hold up any other plans we may have. |

I think they lose a ton more by keeping him. They could turn and trade a few picks and land a guy like JBow who would obviously be a big step down, but would keep them afloat. They could also make a few other moves to land an offensive guy. Keeping him and having a 150 million dollar difference between ticket sales and player salaries over the next 6 years would be insane... |

Do you think all of the owners want to risk paying him if they get no income? it will be hard to convince even half of them, if not any of the owners to be okay with matching the offer. |

Me either, but do you think the owners take the risk of losing all of that money? If I put myself in their shoes, i am more interested in taking the safe route financially. Would you agree? |
