Nashville can use full 7 days to decide whether to match Weber's offer sheet, but, I suspect decision has been made. - stveshdy

Yep. I mentioned that earlier on. Of course the Blues lost Stevens a year later for another offer sheet - Jsaquella
They lost him because they offered Shanahan an offer sheet. They were required to give the Devils four first round picks, but those picks were given to Washington for Stevens. Blues offered Brind'Amour CuJo and two first round picks, but the Devils only wanted Stevens, they took it to an arbitrator and the Devils won. |

I would say Voracek has shown more in his career with points, ability to PK, then JVR has to warrant an extension in the $4 million range. This is coming from a huge JVR believer. - ravishingone
Problem is JvR signed that price for six years I believe. The Flyers I think would be willing to spend that money if Voracek signed long-term and not on a one year deal. |

Yep. I recall the circumstances. The Blues were despised by other GMs at the time. |

It may well be. There's valid reasons to drag it out no matter what the decision is.
IIRC the Canucks only took 3 days to match the sheet to Kesler. - Jsaquella
I think we get the answer by Sunday. Something will leak out at that point. My guess that is. |

Ok, here's the deal. Meszaros, MAB, Laughton, 2013 1st, 2014 3rd and they have to take walker. |

It's been a bit hard. Talked to my brother in law for awhile tonight...he's fired up - Jsaquella
Hard not to get excited, Weber is Pronger in his prime with Al MacInnis shot from the point. It is interesting how Homer has tried to keep most of his young talent in the fold, I think if Clarkie was in charge, a trade may have been more likely for Weber. Who can forget the Adam Oates trade? |

Oshie just received $4 mill a year for 5 years, there's your market. |

Understood, Oshie's deal is a very good framwork for a Voracek deal. I really don't think the Flyers want to deal Voracek. |

Oshie and Perron have pretty much set Voracek's window on a multi-year deal. |

Dreger says Nashville made $26-million in gate receipt and tix revenue last season. Now imagine an employer giving that to one employee, hah
Dustin Leed@D_LEED
And that's just in bonuses... Depending on work stoppage, Weber gets paid no matter what. Tough stuff for a team that isn't used to spending

I would be fine if Voracek signed for 4M per year if the contract is 4-5 years long. |

This 26 million thing is blown out of proportion. He's only getting 14 million this year and if the season continues on schedule, next years revenues go towards him. If not, rollback would cut his costs. That plus the fact that they to reach the cap floor regardless. Plus one of the minority owners of the Predators is apparently one of the richest people in Canada, Brett Wilson...
Without Weber, they can kiss any kind of revenue good bye. |

Meszaros is better than a late 1st. he's a 1st and 3rd with $4 million towards the floor and he'll help day 1.
Laughton has a year under his belt. a 2016 1st rd pick is 4 years away.
They keep the 2013 #1
The last piece is a downgrade from a 1st rd to 3rd for MAB and the extra 3rd I believe Meszaros is worth. i.e. MAB and 2 3rds insteaad of a 1. |

I'd offer Voracek, Meszaros, Bourdon, & maybe another minor leaguer for a few picks back not much more. |

I would consider Simmonds over Voracek, I think he has more upside. |
