19 days less then a full year. Call it what it is. They need 13M to match the deal right now. No more. - MJL
So the rest of the guaranteed money means nothing? Got it. |

Meszaros is better than a late 1. I put him at a late 1 and late 3.
Laughton is a 1, but a 1 that hits the rink 4 years earlier for your franchise than the 2016 #1
So you get Meszaros and Laughton now instead of a firs in 2015 and 2016.
the 2013 first rd pick is the same.
the 2014 3rd, MAB and the extra value on the Meszaros swap is the 205 #1, but we have them take Walker to clear our books and give them $ towards the floor.
Is that understandable? - jstross
Yeah I'm all for it, i'm just not sure Nashville does it. |

Theres so many factors to look at about the offer sheet and do they match.... But some things which are so bizarre did anyone think his agent was alittle strong on saying there leaning on the flyers.. i know thats the point they signed the offer sheet but i dont know.. another is the Preds were told about the offer sheet... and then tried to trade him to several teams doesnt anyone think that should be a telling sign.... i mean if they were told about the offer sheet and were gonna match why would they then try to trade him.. just seems odd to me i dont know if anyone else thinks this way... just seems to me to be the telling sign...but theres soo many scenarios so who knows |

Well thats the investment. You cant leave that part out. Thats something that has to be paid at some point for a small market team. |

There are many things that can happen. The good thing is we dont have to wait that much longer. |

However, they will also have revenue coming in that will go towards him. Keep in mind they only have to pay him a one million dollar salary the upcoming season after the bonus. Ample time to save up money, they could put that money towards a Shea Weber bank account. |

Of course it is. But they have time to get the funds together. Right now, they need 13M to match. It's part of the picture of their ability to match the offer. Like I've said numerous times. It is about far more then just the financial ability to match the deal.
Like I said before. I have the money to buy a new boat. Doesn't mean that's the smart thing to do for me and my family and our financial picture.

If the Flyers are going to trade Voracek and Meszaros in the deal then Nashville only gets one more first rounder and not in 2013, but that's just me. I really believe people under value Voracek. |

As a Devils fan, I don't want to see him in Philly as well. However, I hope it could be a knee jerk reaction for the Devils to upgrade their offense. |

That bonus money is still hard to pay for a team that was losing money last year with Weber and Suter on its roster. I'm not trying to be a "homer" here and not see both sides but it doesnt seem like a good long term investment for the Preds to match this offer, IMO. |

According to John Gambadoro, Shane Doan will be visiting the Flyers tomorrow. It will be his second visit after meeting with the Rangers |

kinda stupid for nashville to make their fan base wait no? would have been better public relations to match and move on - watsonnostaw
Not necessarily. Match quickly, and the fans think that was easy and more is to come. Match next week, and make a speech about how incredibly wrenching it was and how at the end they could not let the fans down. Then, the fans cheer, and ownership has enough goodwill to scrap along and reach the floor this year and no one blames them for not doing anything more. |

Thanks. I guess what I was reading was smoke screens. They said he wanted to stay out West but I guess maybe he is open to the East as well. |

I think Doan will get close to $6 million/yr for at least three years. Somewhere Fehr is just smiliing. |

I think if he leaves Phoenix, it's to a team with a good shot to win. |

A lot is going to depend on Weber. Now if the Flyers make a trade maybe they free up enough money to add Doan (or if they miss on Weber). |

If the Flyers end up with Weber and Doan, they can tear down Billy Penn and put a statue of Holmgren's Balls on top of city hall |
