Well done, now with Julien locked up we now have a solid team philosophy for a few more years! Now he needs to have Harvard get him a sniper for the PP. It's been an great five years, he's made the Bruins Relevant again, making the other 29 work hard for a victory, and the Stanley to boot! Even with the craziness with TT and not having a said sniper, with him behind bench the Bruins are still in contention this year even with the upgrades the other teams made.

They need a Power Play, especially with those upgrades within our conference, it's so tight that they need to finish in the top ten in PP goals to make playoff spot. They can't continue to ride the PK and even strength situations for a win because teams have already figured it out! Look at all those close games last year, all it would have taken is one PP goal to continue the momentum they attained to get on the PP!

As the season went on you could see & feel that having a futile PP their confidence level went south! Towards the tail end of the season they had no idea who to set up and where they were on ice during the PP. With no go to guy and a bunch of set up men = no goals! With such a robust team I can't imagine why there isn't any one of Bruins at the net to in pare the vision of the goalie or for a rebound, there were quite a few pucks lying there to be tapped in only to have nary a Bruin with in two feet of it!

I'm looking forward to this season for sure. With this rant it's my training camp for the up and coming season!

GO BRUINS!!!

Those who don't like Claude or Chiarelli never will no matter what they accomplish. I don't think starting over with new coach/system would benefit the team at this point. Good news on Horton cleared for contact.

I heard an interview where Neely was quite adamant that the Bruins offered Parise a substantial deal, so if that is true then I have to believe they are still trying to improve the team.

I have zero problems with the way he coaches, and I just don't understand people who are critical of him. Always modest and keeps it simple on and off the ice. Never gives the media any opportunity to exploit him. Best Bs coach in many years - hope to see him behind the bench for another decade+

Remember that Pat Burns was run out of town too, and then we had some real talent gaps behind the bench for a long run, (not just Dave Lewis who for some reason modeled his look after Hitler...). PC and Clode have worked well together, and while yes, they are defence first, when they click the offence is there, even more so once they have a lead. It seems a one goal lead for them is usually a pretty big lead.
Now if they could just do something with that powerplay. I wonder if its almost like a moneyball thing, where they have determined that in the big picture, a powerplay looks good but wont will you a lot of games (which is the sabermetrics view on stolen bases), or they just have the system of working the pass back to Chara and having him shoot wide.
Good signing, nice to have some consistancy back there, but moving forward, what are we gonna do. Rangers just got a lot better, great trade for them, and they were already beating us last year.

What did they offer? I remember Sinden telling everyone than they made a "significant offer" to keep Guerin here, which was 9 million dollars less than what he signed for. If it was a 5 year deal for the same dollars per year, it wasnt even in the same ballpark.

The fact that nobody has revealed the offer amount to Parise leaves doubt in my mind as to how competitive the offer was. That's why I try to preface it with 'if it is true' instead of saying it is a fact. I do believe that they are trying to improve the team without giving up one of the players some refer to as the "core" of the team, and I like that approach for this season.

Good article Ty. You have to look at the whole body of work with Julien. Overall it has been pretty damn good. Playoff Hockey every year and a Cup. I am currently frustrated with the team but I do not fault Julien. My issue and I have and been very public about this, is with the B's so called 1st line, (Lucic and Krejci in particular) and their putrid powerless play but, thats another conversation.

I think he can at least take them back to the ECF within the next 2 seasons and hopefully grab another cup before Edmonton pops and wins a cup or 2.

Yeah, they have three #2 lines, but no #1, which lends even more credit the coaching staff and Clodes system.

Oh no question about it! You know one thing I never hear from people complaining about Julien is who would be better. I used to say Laviollette but after winning the cup and watching Philly never get over the hump( yes one finals appearance but they haven't come close since) I'm not sure. Were they ever able to legitimately get Dave Tippet or John Tortorella? I don't think so. So if not Julien then, who?

I see it more as like 1B, 1B, 3A, 3B. Julien certainly uses what he's given well. I had doubts that he could get them over the hump despite being absolutely the best coach they could have asked for after the Lewis disaster. But he definitely proved me wrong. Super happy to have him around.

I think it was his time out timing that pretty much inspired the come back against Montreal and eventually led to a cup. Sometimes he sits on them a little long, but he seems to have the patience of a saint.
