Nice write up. I also think your coach had pretty good control of the team which limited the goonery on the Flyers side. Unfortunately we looked like 3rd graders itching for trouble, and we certainly found it and were very undisciplined. I personally feel our coaching is a little suspect.

Dead on about Fehr & Bettman, Bill

Any fan can take sides, (which is meaningless), or see the respected principals of each sides argument, but 8 years ago the players acted like they were entitled to no salary cap, now they are entitled to "better" than a 50-50 split, which may resolve this situation, and get us possibly moving on to the game we all love.

"RDS reported that the Flyers had contacted the Montreal Canadiens about restricted free agent P.K. Subban's availability in trade."

Please, God... tell me it's just talk... tell me it's just a rumor, and nothing more.

If anything, they need a defensman... not another forward (Subban is a "defeseman" who is never in defensive position, who is constantly going on a rush leaving his forward behind, shoots the puck even if 4 guys are standing 2 ft in front of him blocking the net... and most of all, you don't need that attitude on the team.)

There are three guys I wish to never, ever see in orange and black. Crosby, Avery, and Subban...

And yet his overall numbers are comparable to those of Kimmo Timonen.

You may want to try to watch him play more often, his defensive game is much better than you think.

All Homer is doing is "kicking the tires" when it comes to Subban.

As for the rilvaries, it's about success and how a team is looked upon. Some of "hate", I believe comes from the over marketing of one player and this broods a lot of negative feelings in other markets. In essence, a star is born and the attraction to come to the player is created. It is what it is...

there will be no hockey, a lock out is coming and it's quite sad. when millionare players and millionare/billionare owners cannot come up with a resolution, no matter how you spin it, their all idiots. I blame both sides. With the league at an all time high last year, more people will find other ways to spend their money if their is another lockout...I know i will to some degree

I completely agree.. While I wouldn't give up Schenn or Couts for him, I would move other players. PK is a special player. Hopefully he can continue to mature.. and if so, watch out.. you got yourself a perennial all-star.

Media to blame or not i would have a real hard time enjoying a cup run if the Flyers were to somehow get Crosby in the future. Obviously if he was drafted by the Flyers we would all love him.

In 1997 i was stationed in Va and was playing in a hockey league during the flyers playoff run and eventual "choke" in the cup series against Detroit. We would go out to the bar to watch the games after and I couldnt believe how many hockey fans for other teams hated Lindros. Called him dirty and cheap. BUt if he was drafted by their team they would loved him i guess kind of like Crosby.

It's a good point but for myself I really doubt I could like Crosby if he was a Flyer. Besides the chances of him becoming a Flyers is not real good. But either way... It is what it is

I disagree slightly on the whole Jagr loved as a Flyer thing...I still dislike Jagr. Yeah, he helped the young guys this past year and he did well as a Flyer, but I still cannot forget all those years with the Penguins and his stint with the Rangers. I still dislike him for those years. I turned slightly, but no where near completely. Maybe most of the fan base has, but I certainly won't.

Jagr moved out of my top 3 players I loathe (lemieux, stevens the other two). I'm still not a huge fan of the jagr but I'm not a huge hater either. He really did some good in Philly in only 1 season.

This statement is predicated on A healthy Crosby:

I would give up any two Flyers on this current roster for Crosby. Sure he whines and seems to hide behind the refs when people try to engage him in fights he starts....I seriously hate that about him....

But

On and off the ice he is the hardest working player out there. He goes to the tough areas of the ice and doesn't shy away from physical play. His skill is on another level. He produces constantly and by all accounts is a very good leader off the ice as well.

I could easily root for Crosby in Orange and Black.

See, I'm in the minority here. I don't dislike Crosby, never did. Would take him in less than a heartbeat. Same for Jagr. They are terrific players and I love watching terrific players. Like the rest of us, I'm not happy when they beat the pants off of the Flyers, but I always enjoyed watching the greatest players in the world play the game.

The players I've always detested were the cheap, dangerous players. The Raffi Torres, Matt Cooke, Darcy Tucker, Ulf Samuelsson type of player.

Jagr was hated for being good. Crosby is hated not only for being good but for being a whiny little creepy punk. Its easier to embrace a player like Jagr when he comes to your team than it is a guy like Crosby.

I agree with that 110 % Crosby might be the best to some people--but I don't see how a guy can be called the "best" when he hides behind the refs or dives to to pick up a call. That's just LAME! I dont see "G" hiding behind the refs. What the heck: "To each his own" as the saying goes.
