Great blog as always, my buddy actually read me the article where Jagr talked about g and it sounded like he really really wanted to play with him on Kladnos team. Bill do you think there is anyway they would be able to work out the insurance issue? |

Thanks for the blog Bill.
I reead the article, and first thing I selfishly thought.. what if.. just maybe he could come back eventually. We do need him...
Then I said, this is more great news for his quality of life as you say. Right now, if he's making progress, don't chance anything.. he's had a great career and it's time to retire, and to enjoy life with your family. |

The only way would be if Jagr and Kladno can arrange for a sponsor to cover the cost of Giroux's insurance. The various Czechs who have signed with Jagr's team -- including Jagr himself, as well as Plekanec, Tlusty and now Tomas Kaberle -- are paying most/all of the cost out of pocket, which pretty much eats up any money they'll make off their already-modest salaries. The team operates on a very tight budget.

I will be stunned if the NHL lockout goes past November. The league has far too much money to lose off the Winter Classic.
Would 24/7 still happen is there's a lockout? I mean it could still be interesting. |

Depends on how long the lockout goes. Filming starts right after Thanksgiving right up til the game.

Well I mean if the lockout is still underway would they still film? It seems like something HBO might do. They could follow a player or two in Europe and some of the players involved with NHLPA back home. |

If Pronger has any temptations of playing again, that should be understandable by all. Hockey is something Chris Pronger has done for most of his life. Even Simon Gagne has ignored Keith Primeau 's warnings and that ignorance won Simon Gagne a Cup. I will never say Pronger should play but I will say it's all much easier said then done. The temptations could be much too strong. Everyone wants to beat the odds. In my honest opinion, when the player is ready, I would like him to come out and tell everyone how he has been doing. How is Pronger traveling? I heard he may or may not have moved to St Louis.
I can't help but have questions. If Pronger felt 100% today, he already recovers much faster then Sidney Crosby. In fact Crosby was brought back too soon early last season in late October and was taken out for a number of months. I am not comparing the two as much as I want to get a group of concussed players and ask how they differ. I would love to see an interview with Eric Lindros and understand how he went on and how he could take part in an alumni game. |

I was thinking the same thing, maybe Sacka the betting company Jagr represents would cover it. |

I could see that, but access could be an issue. |

Here are highlights of yesterday's game (no audio). The assist comes shortly after the 6-minute mark of the video. - bmeltzer
Trust me Bill, there is audio! My fellow workplace people thought I was diving in to some Russian nightclub!

I love Czechie, he looked great with Hossa for that Prague team.
So happy the Flyers got a deal done with him.
I heard Prague is beautiful, and has good beer.
Hmm, road trip anyone?

How close are you to Spokane, Everitt, or Tri City Americans. You should be taking in those games. |

good to see jake picking up where he left off, good to hear about Prongs even if he never plays again at this point I'd personally rather he didn't b/c I'd feel worse about him having a setback than I'd feel better about a cup. Happy friday everyone!

Everett WA is pretty close, about an hour drive. Spokane is a long haul across the mountains, 6+ hours. Tri City is in between, but across a mountain pass also.
Everett is very do able. And also the Vancouver BC area has a bunch of teams that are within an hour for me. But the border crossing sucks (mainly getting back in to the US, Canada just asks " bringing any guns?...no" and then they let you in). |

Everett, eh? I would be going there once a week if I lived about an hour. My wife and I got into them when the EA Sports Ultimate Team mode of NHL 11 (12?) gave her about 4 or 5 Everett players early in the season and she went on to collect all of them. Their logo and colors are really cool. |
