The Owners could do it if they so please and they'd probably make good profit doing it.

False. They locked out the players... ALL of them. ANyone with an NHL contract cannot play in the NHL during the Lockout. The owners cannot pick and chose which contract they will honor. If they are honouring the AHL contracts, they have to honour Crosby's as well. It's not their choice.



And no they wouldn't make a lot of money. You need Advertisers, TV deals and ticket sales to make money. None of which would fly with scabs.

IMO if the NHL brought in scabs and it fails (No doubt about it) then it empowers the players.

Let's just replace Bettman and we can solve all the problems. Love to see that silly smirk wiped of his face once and for all.

Let the players rot. The union will break because not all 700 players can afford to sit out a year.

I don't think its "anyone with an NHL contract". I recall reading you don't become a memeber of the union until young play one game.

Right, because that's totally our choice. Oh, and obviously the owners would want someone totally different than Bettman, who was doubled their revenue, and started towards getting player contracts out of control, to replace him.

Just make the season an old-timers year ... cut it in half. Gretzky to Edmonton; Mario, Stevens, Barrasso and Coffey to Pittsburgh and let it role. Gordie Howe to Detroit; Stan Mikita to Chicago.
