Mixed feelings with Briere playing instead of resting. The rest during the last lockout did a world of wonder for Selanne's career and most importantly his knee. At the same time, who better to play with, if at all then Claude Giroux. Both Briere and Giroux bring a similar brand of offense, hopefully Briere can feed off of Giroux and redeem himself for the upcoming season...If there is one.

It's just one of those weeks.... Sounds as tho Ilya needs to demand a trade I don't even remember that Stana guy (coulda swore something was said about a brief stint in DC) weird how players thrive in one league yet it doesn't carry over to another. Hope this lockout ends soon. Thanks for keeping us up to date Bill.

Stana has played in Europe ever since the last NHL lockout, but was primarily in North America before that. He played something like 5 to 8 NHL games with the Capitals in 2003-04 but was mostly in the AHL. He's been a very good goalie in Europe the last five seasons or so. It was kind of a curious decision for CSKA to bring in Bryzgalov in the first place.

That's for Julian Talbot, not Max. But I'm sure they'd create a roster spot for Max Talbot, too, if he were to opt for Europe at some point over the Players Tour in Quebec.

It makes me wonder how much the players care about the lockout when they are all signing over in Europe. If everyone was dedicated to getting this resolved than everyone would be here trying to get a deal done. It's a joke and the fans are suffering because of it.

To be fair, the players aren't the ones negotiating, Fehr is. They're just doing what they can to maintain themselves as hockey assets.

The players absolutely care about the lockout, and they want to be playing NHL games instead of overseas. But hockey players play hockey. If they are locked out in the NHL, they'll play elsewhere. Simple as that.

But I do agree that the NHLPA needs to be a little more active right now in trying to present a new proposal and getting the negotiations moving again. The ball is in Fehr's court right now.

Phew, I was worried the bryz bashing wouldn't start until the lockout lifted.

I have to track where all our college prospects are playing since the NCAA starts next weekend. There's not going to be NHL hockey unless the owners cave this time.

That's great. So we get a potential Stolarz game next weekend on the big screen. That works.

I have the sports package so I'm sure I'll pick up a bunch more games through the additional channels. There are at least a half dozen games on them every weekend with a heavy WCHA and Hockey East leaning.

I was excited to see how he would bounce back this season, but this lockout has put that on pause, unfortunately.

I read an article yesterday about how well prepared the players are this time compared to the last lockout. That and with the players moving over seas so quickly I think they're hunkered down for the long haul if necessary.

Look at how they're negotiating this time. This is completely different than last time. The players were desperate to get back on the ice. This time they certainly aren't coming off that way. I believe the owners first proposal fortified the union. They certainly didn't see that low ball offer coming off the jump. At least not that incredibly low.

I told my son when I read the offer to get in line for NHL13 because that was all the NHL he was getting this season.

The Briere signing was the nail in the coffin for me. He's not leaving his kids if he thinks this is just going to be a two or three month thing. He could have killed time playing in Quebec. That says to me he's sure they aren't settling this thing anytime soon. I always pay attention to the guys I think are the smarter people to see how the wind is blowing and Briere's choice blows cold.
