It's all about winning, but that doesn't negate the fact there are different levels of success. |

#2 seems a lot easier... Plus imagine the party.
#2 it is. All for glory. |

Obviously A.
If you're 'A', you're likely set for life after your hockey career.
If you're 'B' you're likely working for 50 years with Krys Barch. |

Be a consistent player.
Winning one cup is great, but having a succesful career is better. |

ask Jim Kelly about all those consistant times in Buffalo and what it got him in Super Bowls.....he would be a practice squad guy with a ring right now if it were his choice, i can bet on that. |

i would rather contribute and lose than watch and win.
getting a ring doesn't mean that you earned it.

Definitely A, 10 times must mean that you were on a pretty damn good team(s) and probably a great player. The odds of making it 10 times and losing every single time is very unrealistic though. Something like 5 or 6 would be more realistic |

Wait a minute...Let me clarify: My ass does NOT have a nipple, I'm telling that Fruit Cake Nipple to kiss my ass...
That leads to a question though: What the hell kind of fruitcake are you eating that has nipples? |

the question was, would you rather be a star and team good all the time or a non contributor and win the cup....the example is perfect, I was saying he would trade all the star years for 1 super bowl. |

I would take the Cup.
An NHL player who wins a Stanley Cup is still an NHL player who won a Stanley Cup.
Let's assume that the NHL is the top hockey league in the world. Each year 700 or so players get to suit up for one of 30 teams all hoping to get a chance to do battle in the playoffs and ultimately win the Cup. How many people play Pro Hockey Internationally? How many of them would like to win the Cup? Heck, how many would like to just play in the NHL?
Even if you are just a small piece of the puzzle, you have battled through years of work for a chance to help acheive that final goal. If you play 4 minutes in game 3 of the Finals, and that is it, it means that an entire team was counting on you for 4 minutes to help attain the goal. How can you take that away from anyone?
However, writing this it comes to mind this:
This is a team sport, and no one player, be they a superstar or part time call up, wins you the Cup. I would feel no shame, and infact, would feel pride, to be part of an organization that trusted me to help the team as a whole succeed, regardless of what role I played. |
