Sean monahan is gonna be drafted by the Edmonton oilers, they need a big centre with skill. They should be able to get him at 4th - 6th and that's about where they should be picking if there is a season

That's a big IF. Also, with a short season you might find Edmonton's young team has enough chemistry with a small sample size to make the playoffs. Over 82 games, Edmonton is NOT a playoff team, but over 52 games? maybe.

If there isn't a season, Edmonton should be picking 20th-30th if you use the same criteria as last post-lockout lottery. In the three-ball system, the Oilers (are one of the few) to have one ball.

For reference, here's the whole list:

Three notes on my hometown team:
1) Mackinnon is the best player in the Q, for sure. I was already convinced of his scoring prowess, but I'm more and more convinced he'll be a solid NHL two-way centre.

2) Drouin, on the other hand, may be too small to excel at the pro level. I love his heart, his intensity and his skill, but I'd say that 5'10, 185 is a very generous measurement for him. People see St Louis and Giroux, but he land under these expectations.

3) Fucale, I'm high on. Goalies are a nebulous prediction, but I think he's played with a lot of poise for such a young guy. He deserves that top ranking as of right now.

Don't get me wrong, I'd be jacked if we lucked out (again), but if I were the Oilers scouting staff, I'd be looking at some of the lower ranked pick - maybe Lazar continues his difficult year and he slips to us, for example. I even think a guy like Fucale might be around.

The only thing that's very curious is the size of dmen this year - nothing really stands out...

poop, the oilers should put up the City of Edmonton's half of the money for the arena- then we might be poor enough to win MacKinnon or Jones!

go moose!
On Drouin, seen him a lot and it's still hard to say how much of is success comes from Mackinnon but he does have top flight acceleration too. honestly his hustle and skill set remind me A LOT of Steve Sullivan, and that might be a more fair comparison than St Louis

Toronto should forget this loungo business and just tank! even if they miss out on #1 Sean Monahan is exactly the type of guy we could use. This could be the draft of the franchise centermen for sure

what Canadian team is every in financial trouble with the dollar where it is

look at the leafs, havent won since 80% of their fanbase have been alive, and havent seen a playoff game since clinton was getting blowies in the oral office and still one of the richest teams.

this right here. everyone assumes that quebec and winnipeg were moved cuz of poor support or whatever, and that the sens almost went bankrupt for the same reason. truth is, the dollar was terrible, and while their revenues was earned in Canadian dollars, the salaries were being paid in american.....hence, financial trouble. with the american and canadian dollar now worth the same, i doubt you'll see canadian teams in financial trouble again.

and if we lose the season, my money is on columbus "winning" the lottery. they've taken too much of a beating the last 2-3 years (nash, carter, losing the allstar game if season is cancelled) for bettman not to "step in" and hand mackinnon to them.

And 'was' is the operative word. People always suggest that it will return to the 65 ccent doldrums, but that was an unprecedented disaster. Somewhere between 80c and par is to be expected.

i think even 80c won't likely happen again....if the dollar drops below 90c i'd be shocked. our dollar is strongly linked with our natural resources, and i can't see those decreasing in value anytime soon.

True. Even that was a while ago.
