Getting damn hard to keep a fire alive for a league so filled with greed and entitlement.

Thanks for giving updates on hockey instead of the big wig BS.

Great Read!!

Chris Pronger - He is one of my Fav players. That man is a beast and wish he could play again but He needs to just retire and enjoy his family. I wish him nothing but the best

Bill, two questions

Claude Giroux - any idea what the injury was? I know he had a neck injury but what did they say it was??

Jody Shelley - Whats he up too??

Thanks!!

Giroux's injury was supposedly a cervical spine issue -- compression of the brachial plexus nerves or a "stinger" as it's usually called in sports. The discomfort lasted for awhile and they wanted to rule out a concussion because he wasn't feeling well for a few days after the jarring elbow.

Jody Shelley has worked out at the SkateZone on rented time, and otherwise has remained in the Philly area going about day-to-day life with his family during the lockout.

I thought and I could be wrong.... If G has a concussion that he wouldnt of flown from Germany back to the state bc that can make things worse. I just assumed if that was the case that concussion wasnt even and issue. Well either way Im glad it wasnt anything to bad and he is 100 percent now

Thanks Bill

Sad about Pronger. One of the few guys who was a Flyer for a short while but made such an impression (Lappy is another). Hope that he can one day return to normal day-to-day life.

Dude i cant agree more.... My wife and I are huge huge Lappy fans and that guy is a true tough guy. He took a puck to the face/head and played what about a week later?? Just tough

Originally, Giroux was supposed to fly to Atlanta sooner than he actually did. If you recall, there was a discrepancy of about a week from when it was first said he was going to when he actually went to see the concussion specialist who treated Crosby and others. I assume they were just taking extra precautions before he left because flying could have made it worse if he actually did have a concussion.

Wouldn't it be great to discuss Jody Shelley again?

I see J.S. spending a lot of time with his family. Sucks he probably is losing some money/time this year in what is probably his last year.

Not good news about Bourdon at all. I think at this point that he really should not even be included in any plans moving forward. That many concussion in so few games is definitely a red flag. His health should be the main concern now.

I shudder to think what the Flyers defense COULD look like this season. (IF)

Timonen one year older. (plus the back)
Mezzy still hobbled (plus the back)
Schenn in a new environment with a new partner.
Coburn getting heavy responsibility as the defacto #1 (is he ready?)
Manning?
Grossmann with 2 questionable knees.
Gervais and Lilja as #6 or 7 d-men at best.
Gusty ready for prime time yet?

Things could work out fine if everyone stays relatively healthy. But when is the last time that happen? I have a strong feeling we will see Syvret and Lauridson at some point if things go south on the injury fronts.

Then again, if we have no season it wont matter anyway.

Bill, maybe you can shed some light on this:

If the PA dissolves or gets a disclaimer of interest, can players' rights be moved? It may be a pipe dream, but if there's no season, I think Nashville may reconsider a Weber trade; I'm sure they're not too keen on paying him $25M for a year of nothing. I figure since there's no CBA to tie players' rights to a team they can't, but just wanted to make sure.

I never heard that, but I could be wrong. Wouldn't be very captain-like to say, "Yeah, I'm the team's captain, and just wanted to milk them for every penny I could." Could be true though.

Braydon Coburn is fully prepared to be a #1 defenseman. He has the most games played with the Flyers on the roster, he's a veteran and he's played with one of the best in the past decade--Kimmo Timonen.

I hope you're right. But It's asking a lot of Coburn. And it may not be fair to expect that from him.

Maybe I'm over-analyzing it, but he seemed to lose something after he took the puck and moved to a visor. But yes, he seems able to step his game up for the play-offs. I don't know if I'd call him a #1, but I think he's a definite capable #2, maybe a 1A.

He's a good player. But I don't think he's a #1 defenseman.
