Bill, great stuff as always.
Do you really think the part of the new proposed CBA that forces teams to take on the remainder of a long term contract's cap hit if a player retires is really going to fly? I feel like this is the most non-sensical idea I have ever seen. |

He's played very well his last four starts. Bryzgalov apparently was the one who asked for the release, believing the lockout will be over imminently.

If the League gets it's way, the Cap going down to 60M will be an unprecedented reduction in the history of a hard cap in sports.

I know. Wait for the outrage that ensues as the big market teams have to drop players for nothing to become cap compliant then the the leaches scoop up talent for nothing. It's part of what I was getting at yesterday. I'll echo Skips post to me, I love hockey but I hate the NHL. It's a joke. |

It's something I've talked about previously. A lot of fans are in favor of removing the contract loopholes and the lowering of the Cap. I guess it's going to depend on what team you root for. Remember what Chicago had to do after they won the Cup? So we'll see how many are still in favor as they watch teams have a fire sale |

I'm not a fan of salary caps to begin with. putting them in place only to have teams find loopholes just proves that they don't work if you don't want them to. The idea of penalizing large income teams in order to make the teams "fair" and "level" is stupid. If you can't afford player salaries, then don't have a team.
EVeryone hates the Yankees, but its more because they are jealous of their ability to hand over a blank check to an athlete simply because they can. Nobody feels that way about the royals, or the coyotes |

I have to agree with what you said yesterday that the Cap just can't be reduced all the way down to $60 million. That would screw over all the players coming up for Free Agency. |

Its going to be very bad for many of the richer teams and very bad for many high salaried players. Will there even be any good teams after all this goes through? Or will it just be a bunch of mediocre teams for a while?

Been watching WJC's and especially team USA's. Shayne's got some serious wheels and puck handling skills and a missile of a shot.
Hopefully he becomes stronger, he could be a serious steal. |

Any chance they change the 35+ contract rule to allow injured players to retire with no cap hit? A reach, but what the hay. |

I haven't seen any changes to that in any of the proposals.

Hockey fans are generally not known for their knowledge of anything. There are exceptions of course.

I've got to be honest, Ghost is looking as good as any of these highly drafted D men on team USA. He's looking like he was a very good pickup by the Flyers |

He also put a smiley face at the end of it; I think it's more of a wink, wink sort of denial.
