Saturday will be a real big test. Matinee, early, on the road, against the really offensively potent Sharks team. Could be rough. |

Duchene just is looking more complete after every game so far. All the hard work with crosby this summer is paying off.
Also Mitchell, with a game like that, he has instantly became a fan favorite |

Mitchell's face and Zanon's beard are the biggest hit in Colorado since Peyton Manning. |

There is no reason not to be excited for this team! They are very young and will only continue to get better. If they stay healthy they may have an edge over some of the older teams in the shortened season. |

I love how Bobrovsky checks his legs on the Duchene dangle goal, then he looks behind him, and then looks skyward. Goalie reactions are priceless. |

Have you ever played goal? So much padding hard to tell where that little puck is at times. |

I liked how Johnson played last night too, he played big calm and a really defensive sound strong shut down game. Its still tough to see Shatty light it up with St Louis but we needed a dman like how EJ has been playing the end of last season and so far this season.
With Dutchene looking like a game breaker, Varly a stud in net, and EJ as a blue line leader, we really have the pieces in place this season to make a run for the playoffs.
Also Landy looks solid as the captain, finishing hits, back checking, Shane Doan 2.0 in my opinion |

I like to think a young Landy remindes me of Foppa a little bit. |

Mitchell says : O'Reilly who?
You can tell Mitchell is making his case for belonging in that third line center role. He looks fairly responsible and not out of place in any role hes been used in so far. Zannon and Hunwick played pretty well also... Hunwick's speed combined with him being responsible with the puck is fun to watch.
Such a good story with him, especially if he can stick in the lineup this year because it looks like Barrie and Elliott both need a bit more time to mature.

Yeah, minus the 100pt playmaking ability and unreal seeing eye passes. Not to say Landeskog does not have playmaking ability/creativity but his game is a bit more simple..
Foppa, would be like if you mixed Stastny with Landeskog lol. I'll be happy if Landeskog brings what he brings as a 60 or 70 point player.
Anyone else notice McGinn seems to be a little snake bitten right now? He should have 3 or 4 goals on the season by now. Hes was robbed 2 or 3 times last night alone. The awesome thing about him is that he still contributes when the puck isn't going in for him. Even though hes been held off the board, I still see a great player out there hitting and fighting and pressing the play every time hes on the ice. |

crazy thought, if we are forced to deal O'Reilly, would a nino niederreiter swap be out of the question. |

I missed the first game, but have been very happy with games two and three. Top 6 F have produced plenty of scoring chances (Stasny line has been good, just not potting their chances) and the Bottom 6 have kept the opponent from scoring while chipping in a little offense (looking at you Mitchell). My big concern, like many others is the lack of depth on offense.
On a side note, not that I am a huge commenter here, but I love to read the site and comments, there doesn't seem to be much action here right now. Aaron, you think we lost some readers bc of the lockout? |

No - I love O'Reilly and would take him in a second however Nino has more of an upside as speculation goes. But deals that make sense are not really the Islanders strong suit.
From what has been said it has been his agent pushing on the team. In reality it is because Nino was up on the big team last year and I'm sure would love to be in the NHL full time. He truely needs to develope before the Islanders bring him up. He spent time on the 3rd & 4th lines last year with little to no production. This season he is tearing up the AHL. So I hope he tells his agent or himself to shut up and go out there and earn a spot on the club. |
