Dee Karl: Random Isles Thoughts
So much for the first place Atlantic division Islanders. - Dee Karl
Once again, the old Islanders are back in the building. The ones that play well, but not well enough to win. Well, we sort of knew it would happen, didn't we?
Wow Dee, I'm shocked. A realistic statement in one of your blogs, good job |

I was so supportive of the isles and rooted for them to stay in Long Island. But the display last night was so pathetic it made me realize that true hockey fans are just so rare in Long Island the place deserves to lose their team. Cheering a player getting hit in the face with puck was so pathetic. so hip hip hooray for the team leaving for hopefully greener pastures |

Though I don't condone it, get over yourself. It happens in every sport in most cities. Watch any sporting event in New York, Boston, Philly, DC and the home town fans will cheer any time another teams star goes down. |

It was great to see the Old Islanders playing once again. I have missed them so much. So it is that time of year again, where the Islanders rattle off about 5 losses in a row and then we talk about firing Capuano and making trades and talk about how the rebuild is doing awesome.
My main problem with last night was KO. He sucks!! I mean he really sucks!! JAck kept throwing him out there and KO did absolutely nothing. It is like he is afraid or something. |

No. To tell a fan base they don't deserve a team because there were people who cheered during an injury is ridiculous. |

I feel like I'm usually pretty quick to jump on the team when it plays bad, but I didn't think they were bad at all last night. I don't think it can be denied that the other team's goalie had a better game than ours did. To me, that equals a one-goal loss (EN goal at the end notwithstanding). I know...it was the goalie against NJ and now it's the goalie again against Pitt? I say yes, it was. They both had very good games...it's not like they were just blocking shots into their chests all night. Fleury came across the net like I've never seen to make stops twice last night. That's the game, imo. Were they perfect? Heck no, but neither was Pitt. If they don't get too down, they can still do some damage. I'll put it this way...if Nabby played like Fleury did last night and the Isles won 2-1 playing the same exact game they did, we'd all be on cloud 9 today. They really weren't all that bad. |

a... most of the "cheering" idiots were up top and I assume thought that for the 55th time in that game Cindy Crosby was flopping around looking for a penalty call and not actually bleeding and hurt. (I have seen gymnast do less tumbles than him)

It was Crosby my friend....that would have happened in any arena. BREAKING NEWS.....not many people like that guy. I like him as a player, but if you don't see he's a whiny biotch, then you're probably a homer. |

would have been a different game without the quick whistle that cost the Isles a JT goal.
Noticed something last night about KO (who I actually thought was better than he had been). This guy does not play well when you take away his time and space, he does not create space for his linemates and the speed of Nielson and Grabner actually gives him more space to work with. That's why he's been more successful with them.
Overall not a terrible game, but damnit..they need to stop being fancy on the PP and get the shots from the points through to the net.

ya i agree...i actually said to myself during the 3rd, that it must be so frustrating for the players to get back to back games where the opposing goalie steals the show.
fwiw, nabby has been very solid as well. |
