Nice read. "Fire Torts" seems ... wildly premature. Fifteen games into the season, team is still above .500 .. |

I don't think too many serious people are saying that, although I am sure there are a few.
I do think and argument can be made that playing his style over the longhaul can be somewhat difficult and, therefore, maybe we're seeing a team that went deep last year who is a little less motivated to right now to play that taxing style in every regular season game.

Team is also in 9th place has put forth more duds in 15 games than did last year when they played all 82. Do I want Torts fired, no. Should Mike Sullivan be fired, absolutely. If the rangers power play was half decent they have probably 2 more wins. |

Tom, do you honestly believe, in a million years, that Torts is going to fire Mike Sullivan? Those two are pretty much married, and short of some really bad circumstances, there is no way that Slats makes Torts fire a member of his staff. Mike Sullivan isn't going anywhere unless some team hires him as a head coach, or Torts gets fired. |

Until your key guys start producing, there isn't much the coaches can do. Players have to be accountable.....Richards, Nash....these guys get paid a lot of money to score and they are not on a regular basis. |

He deserves to be fired. He's been handed team with good to great talents and mangaes to get worse on the power play. I hope he gets' fired. I know it probably won't happen but I hope. |

Nash is the short time that he has been here has the rangers best player. And not best player other than Lundqvist, but best player. Is he scoring goals, no. So you have a point. But he's putting up points and he's getting chances. Most of them the tenders for the opposing teams have made great saves. Every line he's played on has played well. Whether he plays with Gaborik and Richards or Stepan and Hagelin. Both lines have been good when he's the 3rd player paired with them. |

Is it his only job to coach the power play? I am completely with you on the incompetent power play that the Rangers have had within the last couple of years (if not longer), but Mike Sullivan has a reputation for being a damn good hockey coach, and the team, with the exception of the power play, I think is well coached. |

Here is what I am saying. If you have an employee that is responsible for five performance areas, if that employee excels at 4 of those areas, but is bad at the 5th, you better make sure that you can find a replacement that is going to actually be an improvement as a total package. You don't want to replace an existing employee with someone who is better at 1 of the 5 areas, but worse at the others.
The Rangers have the ability to add another coach, in that they only go with two coaches. Just add somebody to help with the PP, and forget about extracting a pound of flesh from Mike Sullivan. |

Simple truth is that firing Sullivan will not make the power play better. Only bringing some to do will make it better.

Rangers need to hire Perry Pearn to take control of the PP. |

Hey Jan, great job as usual.
As i said in the last blog, i wont feel comfortable until i see a full 60mins from this team.
As far as the power play goes, they need more movement from the three players down low, And for god sakes just throw the puck at the net. |

I would love 2 c t
he Rangers bring in Joe Mullen to run the pp. He is currently running the Flyers pp and has done a great job. I think a guy with over 500 NHL goals knows s thing or two about running the power play. |
