Wow Peter this blog reeks of sour grapes on your part. Where do I start first off. The refs did nothing to help either team. Poor bogosian(very good player could play for my favorite team any day) did you not see his head shot on Frans nielsen into the boards which was the reason matt cooke, I mean Kyle Okposo went after Bogosian in the first place?(also a non call on the refs but whatever) Comparing Kyle Okposo to Matt cooke is uninformed at best but also just plain incorrect/poor use of hyperbole. Can you tell me how many majors Okposo has had in his career? How many suspensions? Yeah thought so. Now you sit there and blame Nabby for diving on a play where at 250 pound moose came right at the goaltender with no intention of moving? Please let me put a guy 75-100 pounds bigger fly at you in a prone position and see how you react. Not the first time we have seen a player do this at the end of OT because if they take a penalty its meaningless but if they score well you understand what I'm saying.
With that being said congrats on hockey in Winnipeg awesome to see such fan support. The arena was flying yesterday.Could have done without the moaning and groaning everytime a Jet player hit the ice but hey great passion nontheless.
I also hope you guys take out the Rangers and secure the 8th seed since I have no ill will towards the Jets but hate the rangers. Take off the homer glasses for just a minute, thanks! |

Peter Tessier: Breakdowns Cost Jets vs Chippy Isles
A few thoughts on what the Jets need heading into Monday's game vs the Capitals - Peter.Tessier
Let's not even discuss the coward that is Kyle Okposo, the Isles answer to Matt Cooke
Your such an a** clown for even suggesting that.....if or when you can come up with a comparison that makes sense, back it up with facts....
Just be thankful Martin didn't hurt anyone on Jets, and Cappy decided to sit Carkner & Boulton, bc we are not that type of team.... |

Look at the replays- there is a close one and Nielson was already against the boards.
Okposo acted like a coward IMO disagree all you like.
The officiating was brutal and I cited examples from one perspective. However I read many yesterday that were complaining about what the Jets got away with too. It didn't decide the game though.
The Isles won and they did it well with intensity and good play. But to ignore some other things is to be obtuse too.

No doubt missed calls both ends but to call Okposo Cooke because of one bad hit is comical. that's the problem. my guess Is you don't watch the isles much otherwise you would see how foolish that comment was |

Well, you kind of did just that, completely ignoring one side of the officiating equation in your blog...only acknowledging it here in comments. Both teams got away with clear penalties...and both teams got some pretty weak calls. I figured the Jets were due for a makeup call when the Isles got a couple of phantom calls in their favor...and the first call on the 5-on-3 the Jets got was that makeup.
But your description of Vis' penalty at the end is a little over the top...considering everything that was let go for both teams, that was a tougher call to make with just 2 minutes left. A penalty? Sure. But the way you wrote it makes it sound like he tackled Tangradi to prevent a breakaway or something rather than skating into his path going for a puck in the corner.
Won't get too into the Okposo comment...a bit funny from an Isles' fan perspective to read your take if you understood how frustratingly passive he is for a player with his frame...spends more time most seasons joking around and laughing with other teams' players than tearing their heads off.
Oh well...it was one of the most exciting, up and down games I've seen in a long time. It's too bad the Caps won yesterday, because I'd love to see the Jets finish 3rd and the Isles 6th and get a best of seven series with these teams. They just seem to match up really well against each other. I do agree that the refs proved they don't deserve to officiate a postseason game. |

Comparing Kyle Okposo to Matt Cooke, a person who has ended careers, is the stupidest thing I've ever seen, as is trying to defend Byfuglien rushing Nabokov with no time left on the clock. Sounds like a case of sore losing to me. Enjoy watching the playoffs from the couch. |

I had to double take when I saw that. Okposo and Cooke being compared? Does this guy watch hockey?
He's just heated because even though the NHL tried to give the Jets the game, the Isles still finished them off. That Viznovsky call was ludicrous, considering how much they let go the rest of the game (even letting a boarding call go AT THAT WHISTLE). |

Whatever. You're calling Okposo a coward because he hit Bogosian hard (when Bogosian's head was down, maybe he should rectify that) directly after Bogosian hit Nielsen up high. Bogosian's hit on Nielsen was dirtier than Okposo's. And like someone said earlier, if you want to be all self-righteous and refer to Okposo as Matt Cooke, please, tell us how many times Okposo has been suspended in his career. Tell me how many major penalties he even has. That was an irresponsible comment, considering Cooke has ended players' careers.
And the officiating did give the Jets a point. Viznovsky skated in the path of the Jets player and got called for interference with TWO MINUTES LEFT when the refs had let far more egregious penalties go uncalled. That's the refs inserting themselves in the game. |

To point to the breakdowns by the Jets that led to Isles' goals and suggesting that it should have been a different game is selective judgement in light of the fact that both of Wellwood's goals - one where he was alone in front of the net and the other a hail mary pass that somehow evaded our defenders - were the result of defensive breakdowns by the Isles.
As for your comment re Okposo, I think you're seeing by the Isles fans' reactions that it is not reflective of KO at all. He's a beloved, hard-working forward that is best known for his toe-drags and falling while trying to make a play with the puck (makes for a great drinking game). I think his hit on Bogo was the result of trying to anticipate a hit from the bigger Bogo - don't think he meant to go for his head.
Believe me when I say that other than yesterday's game, Isles fans are rooting hard for the Jets. I think we'd all love to see the overspending Rags on the outside looking in... |

Haha. It's just stunning. You'd think that even though he's the Jets blogger, he's have rudimentary knowledge of the NHL in general. By comparing Okposo to Matt Cooke, he's insinuating that Okposo is a player in that category (Alex Burrows, etc.) who gets under opposing players skin, is the most hated player on the Isles, drops the gloves once in a while, etc. That's not how Okposo plays hockey. Whoever this blogger is lost all credibility with the statement. It's not like HockeyBuzz is TSN, but it would be nice for the bloggers to actually know other players and other teams. |

The Wheeler thing is stupid too. Wheeler slashed an broke martins stick after the whistle, where if Wheeler hit it higher he easily could have broken martins finger. Wheeler backed down because he is spineless, he talks the talk but he wasn't willing to dance.
IMO Bogo head SHOTS were worse than any of KO possible head SHOT. And they both were going to fight, a fight I would have enjoyed to watch
And BUFF easily could have ended Nabbys season on that play. The NHL has to do something about the Blatent penalty at the end of a game or OT because the penalty won't matter , because it's cowardly and someone could seriously get hurt.
And how about when Hickey rocked Kane. |

You obviously were looking for islander fans to comment. Your Okposo Cooke reference is laughable. Whatever credibility you have or had is now gone. Take off your blue and white glasses the next time you watch a game. Matt Cooke............RIDICULOUS! |

He should buy stock in tissues........it amazes me how some people lose touch with reality when their team loses. Talking about cheap shots from the islanders is just a tad hypocritical after this game. There were plenty of players on your side swinging their sticks at will behind the play and the blatant head shot to Hamonic by Wheeler so put a period and move on... |

You know why Okposo went after Bogosian? Because Bogosian checked Neilsen, in the head, from behind. I understand you're butthurt because this more or less seals the fate of the Jets, but be real.
This article was such a knee jerk reaction to a bad loss it's not even funny. Okposo is the answer to Matt Cooke? Unreal. |

Okbozo is not Matt Cooke. He is well on his way to becoming one but he's not there yet. If it was Matt Cook driving his shoulder into Bogo's chin, Bogo would be out for months and not day to day. |
