Alexander Edler may be dealt in the off-season. If Edler was to be traded, it would have to happen before July 1 as his no-trade contract goes into effect at that time. The Canucks need help up front and have some nice depth on the blueline so it makes sense that Edler could be the odd man out in Vancouver.

I like Read a lot but there is no question I would make that trade.
Helps both teams. |

Problem is Vancouver cant take on more other than picks.
Rumor has it that they will buyout Ballard and trade Luongo which will free up $9.5M to resign some players.
Read doesn't cost much against the cap but maybe adding a pick & prospect gets it done.
I'm not sure what Vancouver would be looking for but it seems they are ready to make some serious changes. |

If they're still looking for a substantial return on Luongo, I think they're going to come up empty handed again. |

I'd rather give Hartnell than Simmonds, youth core must remain intact, especially when trading for a mid-aged player like Edler. It's either Read or Hartnell for me. Even if we have to add some more lower-level assets to it, it's better long-term. |

I don't think they will be looking for a substantial return this time around. They need to move his money off the books.
They will get a decent return but nothing that's going to be over the top. |

I think they're looking to get physically bigger and stronger, so even though Simmonds has a physical style, Hartnell really does make much more sense. |

Adding Hartnell or Simmonds doesn't help them with cap issues unless they add another player to take cost off their books. The Flyers cant afford to take on much more salary either. |

Vancouver probably would want more.
Read, pick, and prospect is a good starting point.
If they want Hartnell and can afford it, I would be willing to work out a deal around him also. |

Absolutely not, if we pick Pulock, then he has the potential to be equal to or better than Edler. Youth core and our 1st rounder this year must remain untouched |

Does anyone think either Tampa or Florida will make a push for the other pick in the top 3? If either team got Drouin and Mackinnon they both complete a line of dominant young players (Huberdeau - Mackinnon - Drouin) or (Mackinnon - Stamkos - Drouin). Seems to make sense for one of the teams to make that push. |

no, if salary is a concern like steveshdy mentioned, read and laughton might be the asking price. top 4 dmen can bring in quite a haul and edler is really top pair worthy. i'd keep him if i were VAN mgmt. |
