How did his job as motivator go over with the Lightning vets? He didn't have an answer for when teams figured out his system. - jaygeeforty
I don't think it was teams figuring out his system as much as it was the personnel he had not being able to execute. Like I said in the piece, Brett Clark and Marc-Andre Bergeron were counted on to do far too much.
The proof is in the pudding when it comes to the veterans and their results. Steven Stamkos had a 60 goal season, Vincent Lecavalier had a great start to this shortened season before getting injured, Martin St. Louis looks as good as ever, Teddy Purcell turned into a bona fide top-six winger, and the list goes on.
I like a lot of what Boucher did here, but the fit just wasn't there. I think he could have a whole lot of success somewhere else. Jon Cooper will be great for the Lightning.
in the mean time....im PUMPED for cooper with a full training camp after everything i've heard here about him ! WEO
hahahahhaah that game was (frank)ing awesome....the flyers look like morons and get boo'd i love it...not to mention draw in their own end haha thats priceless....(frank)ing dummied

He has Timo on the D to D, Briere in the neutral zone or, and this is how you break the trap anyways, he has tons of ice to skate up with it.
As a Tbay forward why are you not moving your feet trying to force Pronger to make a mistake, which is what fore checking is all about to begin with - FinAddict
It was the defenses job to move the puck out of there own end. But what do fact's mean when you have opinion right?

i know you can skate with it.....they are not moving their feet because thats their system that they are playing.....the defense should of skated instead of looking like an idiot, or the forwards should of moved around trying to get open....go into their end re group and do a quick break out at their own blue line and dump it deep....
why would he pass it D to D it has the same outcome of whats happening when he has the puck theres no "better look" there from the other defenseman
as you can tell I am in the nhl
when teams are standing still like that as a defenseman (or whoever has the puck) you skate with it flick it in high with hang time and beat them as you are moving already when its dumped in and they are starting from stand still

Playing against an offensively potent Philadelphia Flyers team, I would tend to agree with what the Lightning did. Honestly, like you said Arty, it's Philly's job to get the puck out of the zone. If the Lightning can keep them back there, I really don't care how bad or ridiculous it looks. The reality is that the Flyers weren't going to score from back there.

I'm just saying, as an objective observer I thought it was Tbay looking foolish on the play. Maybe its because I grew up playing defense and was always taught to only move the puck if you have to.
