this was funny, until I opened up the picture Luongo tweeted and wanted to stab him in the face.

Luongo and a 1st to the Islanders for Dipietro, Niederreiter and a 2nd - woopstash
Luongo to the Islanders for Dipietro and a gourmet steak dinner on Snow. That's probably more than I want to give up for that contract anyway. If I had it my way it would be dinner at the Olive Garden.
Seriously though, not giving up a single asset for Luongo and that contract. |

Then the Islanders won't get him. Pretty simple. |

I definitely agree. There's no way I want another crazy goalie contract |

I'll give the Canucks full value by making the trade Luongo for DP and a 7th round pick, plus future considerations (which would be not pointing and laughing as they buy DP out)

No, it was accurate. Milbury fvcked up this franchise for a long time both while he was GM and for years after he was gone.

A Luongo for Dipietro deal straight up is not going to happen.
Luongo is still a good goalie. Dipietro is a buy out and will never play a game again. |

So you'd rather be saddled with basically the same contract for an AHL goalie? Think of it as a one year gamble. You could take Lou use him for the year see how it pans out then either buy him out next year or keep him. With goalie D, you have to buy him out this year , he's not going to play in the NHL ever again. |

yup, and if the Isles pick up Luongo they get what, 3 years of possibly decent goaltending and then are in the same position, except if he was to retire early then the Canucks get bent over.

Ya. The Tim Thomas/Nabokov duo is much better. |

why would we give up an asset for a gamble? Are you going to give up one hell of a good prospect for a shot at someone who has the same terrible contract? Or just buyout the one, knowing the cap hit won't hurt us because we have 30 mil in cap space and carry on?

I'm OK with that. I'm not exactly bouncing off the walls at the thought of, after finally ridding ourselves of DP on this team, adding a contract that goes a year longer than his and carries a cap hit of just under $1M per year. |

because neither of them is signed and it's not even summer? are we playing tomorrow and need a goalie? whoops, I thought the season started in October and the UFA period was in July!

Oh stabbing Milbury in the face. Sorry I change my response to: isn't that a little mild.
Just be careful he isn't holding a shoe. Dude is a ninja with a shoe. |

I guess I would have to ask about what the alternatives are. The Islanders are going in the right direction. A very good goalie could really help them. |

nabby is unsigned and performed poorly in the playoffs as well as the first half of the year. Tim Thomas isn't coming back and was never coming, it was a cap deal that cost the Isles nothing, no dollars, no assets.
