That last part sums it up perfect. He looks to not be excited to even be in the game. |

Bet if he had a guy like Lucic riding shotgun he would do better. |

I think that 22 game streak to start this short season screwed this team. Things came so easy to them, playing different sub-par teams over other night. Now they are head to head with a tough defensive team with good goaltending. |

Kane and Toews = worst playoff 'beards' in history. |

and every single player they (the Bruins) have we wish we had - hubie
To be honest, I think they have the combination of players or core (hides) that work together very well. I think this is a major instance of "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts". I think if you spread many of these guys out to different teams, save a select few like Krecji, Bergeron, Chara, Marchand (though I think his act will eventually wear thin) Lucic, and eventually Seguin, most would underwhelm. Daniel Paille was a disaster here when Buffalo traded him. He was put in the right position to succeed in Boston. That position didn't exist here in Buffalo, and doesn't really exist on too many teams in this league at all (maybe LA, that's about it). Peverly was average in Atlanta. Seidenberg was alright in Carolina, but wasn't going to be a difference maker. Horton wasn't able to do anything with Florida either. None of those guys are difference makers. |

That furthers my point. It's all about environment. The one in Buffalo right now is toxic. |

He still has more points than the team Captain yet nobody is picking on Toews' low offensive output which was averaging a point a game in the regular season and now less than half a point per game in the post season. Seems a bit peculiar to me, yet all the fingers are being pointed in Kanes direction. |

Not to defend Kane, because I'm getting tired of his playoff disappearance act ( 3 years running now), but if you are going to posit that Bicks and Shaw will " come back down to earth", then Kane can just as easily find his scoring touch all the same. Not, not , not NOT saying he will...... Just saying that logic has to go both ways |

You're right.

He was scratched most nights before being traded. He wasn't contributing anything. He was incredibly underwhelming to say the least. |

in buffalo they were trying to make into a 2/3 line guy.. he is not that. boston is using him correctly |

its like when someone tried to tell me paille is a far better player than stafford. no. hes not. hes just not supposed to score so nobody is angry at him when he doesnt.

that is because they expected too much from him.. they wanted him to add to that one fluke 18 goal season early on in his career. when he came back down to earth they didn't let him... same path that Foligno is currently on |

Paille was the captain of the 2004 Canadian World Junior team, the one that lost to the US when Fleury banked it off O'Sullivan's pads. He had skill coming in. Boston just realized it wasn't translating to the NHL and used him differently. He's still not a difference maker, and never was. Until you get a couple of those, you could have everyone on Boston except the original 4 or 5 I mentioned and it won't matter. |

So if Paille is still here, and used only on a 4th line role (i.e. correctly), is this team that much better? I tend to think not. You need difference makers in place first. The rest settles around it. |
