No shock. Kind of figured from the beginning, despite reports the Hawks were trying to keep him, that he was gonna bolt for an opportunity for more money (presumably) and more playing time. Good for him. |

For those proposing the Hawks get Grabowski. Check out the audio of him blasting Randy Carlyle. He had a bad rep coming from Montreal. If the Hawks do pick him up it had better be for no more than a year. You can hear from this clip, this dude is trouble.

Man Philly is gonna be shocked when they find out that good team defense was the result of Emery's numbers.
I do wish Emery all the luck, though. He deserves a legit shot either way. |

The same for some Hawk fans who think Crawford is the second coming of Patrick Roy. |

I'm not too orried about Ray fing Emery leaving.
As strong as a presence as he was, as much joy as I had watching him raise the cup... Ray ray had 0 wins in the Stanley Cup Playoffs... Crawford is ready to br a real life #1 .. Emery can go. |

No one thinks that but Crawford did win 16 playoff games.
Crawford is ready to be a true #1 |

Most logical team. He can platoon with Steve Mason. |

Actually if you read the story and the quotes he's female doging about being demoted to the 4th line by a new head coach after scoring 20 goals three straight seasons. Nothing shocking about a veteran not happy with that.

I think most of us feel like he is our Mike Vernon (sorry likely won't last long enough in Hawks sweater to be Osgood). |

Yea it sounds like it was more bad chemistry with the coach. Sure you don't like him going public but I can't blame him considering he is a solid #2C and wasn't playing that role. Kind of a waste of his talent. |

I read that too. And the reason for that is because he was unable to play within Carlyle's system which is very, very similar to Quenneville's system. It involves backchecking, dogging the puck carrierand being responsible in the neutral and defensive zones.
I have watched Grabowski play since he joined the Leafs and I guarantee if the Hawks pick him up, which they won't because he isn't a fit, but if they did he wouldn't be on the third or fourth lines in Chicago, he'll be in the press box. If people thought Q hated Stalberg, they ain't seen nothin'. |

mason will be the number 1 in philly - can't see how emery can hold up for 50+ games. not the best combo but not boucher/leighton either |

Stars pick up Horcoff from Oilers for a bag of pucks. Cap hit of $5.5 mil each of next two years, actual money owed is $7 mil total for two years.
But you have to go back 5 seasons since Horcoff scored more than 36 points, and their GM says he's now the number 2 center. It might have made more sense to just claim Grabovski on waivers?
---
The win-now moves by the new Stars GM look really bad. Adding a bunch of old guys who aren't that great anymore, other than Seguin. Team is still a hole in the ground as far as overall talent. It would have made more sense to tear it down and rebuild. |

I hope they stay away from him then, but someone in the last thread said the Hawks offered Toronto a first round pick a year ago for him. Likely will have interest if that's true.

Emery just needs to be able to play 35 to 40 games. He played in 34 games in 2011-12. In the worst case scenario, he will be a solid backup. |

And the Leafs thought just one year ago he was worth the contract they bought out today. In Montreal he was shipped out for fighting with teammates, in Toronto he is bought out because he can't play within a structured system. If the Hawks are interested I'd be very surprised. |
