This kid played like a loose cannon at the end of the year. He's gonna need to lock it down a bit.

He will, but he went from AHL third pair guy to viable NHL prospect through hard work. He's made really encouraging progress over the past year or so.

His spine was his greatest contribution last year
Into an otherwise limp lineup. Was nice to see

Great as always Bill

Didn't Bergen have an abdominal injury during his time with the Flyers as well? I have a very vague memory of him having some kind of injury when he was first called up and then missing a few games and then coming back and having that magical run (scoring).

Do you have any thoughts on how some of the Flyer positional logjam will play out? I think the defense is pretty straight forward, but with Schenn moving to LW, that rejuggles the lines and moves people around. Also, is there any hope for Gagne to be resigned? He appeared to still have something to give...or is this another Flyers/Gagne get it signed the day camp starts situation.

The Flyers have to clear cap space and contract slots to fit Gagne, if they want to re-sign him

it's a shame we spend so much of our time writing and discussing a players contract in today's game.

todd bergen. another shame.

Worrying about contract slots reminds me of the hours I've wasted on NHL13 trying to make trades with teams with 50 contracts... God I hate that game...

Online I love, Be a GM I think was a major flaw with the game. No reason it should take 4 days to simulate an entire season. On top of that the trading block and attempts to make a trade make no sense.

So they would need to move someone to bring another player in right?

I thought I saw that it was 48, including the two sliders. Can't remember where I saw it, or who wrote it, though.

You guys are more up on that stuff than I am.

Gotcha. Thanks. Perhaps it will be quiet until camp starts. They seem happy with the current roster. As of right now I think they have been smart with their transactions.

I was a little disappointed with the draft, but as I said the other day the only way to judge a draft is through hindsight. Doesn't really make sense to praise or criticize a pick now. For all I know Morin could have a better career than Seth Jones.

couldnt agree more... it was nice to have a nasty big d man back there... I hope he gets nothing but meanier as he gets older... I love a guy who needs to be watched out for if you get close to his net, makes people less likely to get in that area if the giant defensman is smashing you every time you try to post up there.

http://capgeek.com/flyers/
Has 25 roster spots for Flyers and 23 for AHL, including 2 SR's.

Not sure how up to date it all is though.

Maybe what I wrote was misleading. 48 plus 2 sliders equals 50. Now that I think of it, you're right in what you getting at. I was wrong I think in my earlier post. With the slide risks, they can take on two more players.

I'm mistaken with my first response. They can sign two more players with the slide risks.

I think the Flyers will still try to make some other moves. Gagne could still be signed. Not sure how anyone could be disappointed in the draft. The took players that fans no little about, and most cases, haven't even seen the players play a single game.

I understood what you meant. What I read yesterday said that they had 48 contracts, and if they utilized the sliders they would have 46.

Not trying to make a fuss; as I said, you guys keep track better than I do. And it wouldn't be the first time that wrong information was put in print by the Philly press.

It's 50 with two sliders. So if Laughton and Stolarz go back to Juniors, that puts them at 48.

So if they feel that there is a chance that Laughton will make the team. They can safely add one contract now.
