Great read Ryan.
I don't care if he has to parachute into a rainforest to live with a local tribe for a month if it works. He needs to sort himself out because RS made it pretty clear he's our guy. Sink or swim for at least 1 more year. |

Great stuff, Mr. Wilson. The taboo surrounding mental health (and the related services) is unfortunate. Ideally, there should be no more shame in this than in seeing a doctor over, say, a sore shoulder (or what have you). While I hope this doesn't spell the solution to the Pens' problems keeping the puck out of the net (sorry yinz), I do think it's a fine idea.
EDIT: I like parenthesis (it's true). |

Patently false. As a proud misanthrope, I only attend pajama parties boasting a guest list of myself, and nobody else. |

He's become damn near Knoblauch-ian in his positioning/reactions around the posts in high pressure scenarios. It's as if the anxiety causes him to panic and take a fight/flight reaction whenever he reaches a certain threshold in going back and sideways in the crease towards the post, making it look like he's forgotten how to play in those cases (which he essentially has). Hope he gets better, cause as a goalie, it's been hard to watch--feel awful for the guy. |

That sports psychologist has their work cut out for him/her. Hope it works though. Management better hope it helps too. |

Do you think I'm better off seeking a sports psychologist or HGH for my local league? |

Then go with the HGH. Then even if it doesn't work you didn't have to talk to some nerd about your feelings and such. |

And that's the tip of the tip of the iceberg regarding sports psychology. I was half way into my sports psychology graduate program before switching majors, but it's amazing what they do. Unfortunately the market is SOOO small for them. Sports psychologists will actually work with the training staff and goalie coach (if they ever get one) to develop new training strategies as well. It literally is like having another trainer, but one that goes more in depth mentally and emotionally |

Ha. But seriously, there are certain bloggers that, if they were to write the exact same article (Eklund, Garth, formerly Matt Barry, Cloutier, and probably even Kevin), that term would live on in infamy for a long, long time. |

After a few years of watching a supremely gifted player like MAF blow up in the playoffs, most of us are numb.....or you can say, we're already regulated in the arousal department.
I think there's a few others on the team that could use a little regulation as well. Goal tending didn't cost them a trip to the finals this year. |

No, the team was very distressed that Matt Cooke may have been leaving. It was bringing down their spirits. |

I think it's probably because we all are hoping MAF will get his sh*t together. Arousal does not seem to be his problem. Composure is where he breaks, IMO. Reflex action of his is to butterfly early and/or overreact in general when he is off his game. I like yoga and controlled breathing for training this sort of thing. |
