Gotta say though, you can probably take Liles off of Toronto's hands for free if you are willing to take 100% of his salary. He hasn't performed well enough, post-concussion for the salary he has and is the odd man out with Gardiner and other offensive-minded D on the team.

He might be trying to steer the team into a new direction and thus might be completely uninterested in him. Perhaps they're trying to see how their currents defense fares before making any moves. They've also been trying to get bigger people on the blue-lines.

No problem!
I think despite Liles hardships cracking the Leafs roster, if he got to play a season, he'd play like his old self. However, if they go in the direction of bigger D, then Liles isnt the way to go at all.
I personally think most of the AVs underperformed last season, and also had some coaching issues.
Let this team try again before making any massive situations.

Liles was also at the Pepsi Center today for the Jessica Ghawi equipment drive so that might be another indication of his attachment to Denver.

Fans want him back because he's good and speedy but most of all because they think the current defensive line-up will falter and they want him as a part of any potential change before the Avs start losing.

That's true; I completely forgot about him. I just keep thinking about his contract dispute early on back in that season.

LA's defense is what? Have you not heard of Drew Doughty? That LA Cup run was Slava Voynov's coming out party. Either of those guys are TWICE as good as anybody on the Avalanche's defense. Willie Mitchell? Matt Greene? Add Robyn Regher in there. That D-Core makes Colorado's look like the big steaming pile of shiat that it is.

Liles was mentioned a couple of times in the comments so I'd like to address this point for a bit.

Sure, Liles was great with the Avs during his time in Denver. Now he's doing great in Toronto and is adored by the team and fans alike. It would take so much for the Avalanche to get him back, assuming they have an interest in trading for him at all.

I stopped reading shortly after I started. Toronto could use some cap relief and trading a guy like Liles would be a good way to achieve that. The majority of fans would love to see him go, though most think hes useful, but nobody adores the guy...It's a cap world and sometimes decent players have to be sacrificed. I didnt think reading on after that would be worth it. Judging by your comments, I was right.

Colorado's defence will be carried by the growth of Johnson, Barrie, Elliot, Siemens, Benoit(to a lesser extent) and eventually i think Bigras/Butcher. Maybe trade stastny/RoR for a top 4 D as well, but we already have vets in wilson kinda, hejda, sarich and hunwick(yuck). As useful as Liles was in his day, we have moved on from those days. If you can ship lets say, Hunwick for Liles+an added asset like a small pick or mid prospect, do it. If you dont get anything for helping Toronto, let them deal with their cap.

We would have hype thru the entire year about how well he would fit in Denver and how he would fix the defence finally and then...draft the best center available so we can shift duchene to wing
