Matt Karash: Preseason #1: Looked too much like the bad part of 2012-13

Here's what I noticed:

1. Decent turnout for a Wednesday preseason game, about 8,200.
2. The jersey tuck rule is so stupid.
3. Lindholm looks legit and I think he will do very well in the 3rd line C spot.
4. Gerbe has great speed.
5. I was not really impressed with Murphy tonight. Seemed to fall down a lot when he was trying to get around guys in the neutral zone.
6. Staal and Semin were on their "A" game tonight and looked solid.

I had to work late last night so I missed the game. Sounds like the defense picked up from where it left off last year. It's just the preseason. Hopefully it will come together.

Gleason and Komi are not a good pair. Thankfully they shouldn't be playing together come October.

Well...1st the good- Staal, Semin, Bowman, Bellemore, Jordan, Lindholm, and TERRY-VERY GOOD!
2nd- not so good Ward, Gleason, Komi...
The others were so-so! For a 1st preseason game it wasn't horrible, and most of the errors/ problems are easily fixable! I'm not worried yet, but hope a couple more young/ prospects shine in the coming games. I think Bowman is ready for 3rd or 4th line, and Bellemore should stick as the 6th or 7th D-man. Nash, Welsh, and Gerbe are next on my keepers list!
It may come down to Boychuk vs. Dalpe for the last regular spot!
