Schenn has really been poor as a center thus far in his career. I'm willing to let him continue to try and develop (and accept the rookie mistakes), but at some point, there may be a full-time conversion to winger.
Giroux's feeling the pressure of not having other guys step up. It's tough to create offense when you're constantly being flanked by 2-3 guys from the opposition.
Sean Couturier is such a special player. His value is right up there with Giroux's when you consider the defensive value and future potential. - bradleyc4

I have to agree that G is almost always heavily covered by the other teams best defenders. If he's drawing the heat then someone else needs to make it happen. And that's been a big part of our problem. Another reason why I want Vinny back so badly...
Eventually they will begin to loosen up on G and then he's gonna rock them... |

Anyone know how Sean Monahan is doing for his Junior team. I believe he plays for the Ottawa 67's. |

Giroux just needs to get one goal and he'll feel the weight of the world come off his shoulders. |

Agreed absolutely. As another possible rule change for the AHL, how about allowing 1 U-20 CHL player per AHL team? That way, the CHL would only "lose" 30 players throughout the 3 major junior leagues per season as opposed to maybe 50-60. |

Bill Meltzer: Meltzer's Musings: Laughton is Too Advanced for OHL - bmeltzer
"My proposed change to the rule: Contracted players under the age of 20 who have played three seasons of major junior hockey should be eligible for the AHL rather than returning to their junior team for a fourth season. This decision should be at the discretion of the NHL team that drafted and signed the player."
What can we do to make this happen?
It is so logical and would be a huge improvement. |

Beast mode best describes how he's playing. - ob18
Been forever since I heard that reference!
Go Laughton! Too bad he couldn't put it all together in pre-season. But I'll look forward to him next season. |

He made the Flames roster and put up 3G/5A in 7 GP. But apparently, he's played 1 game (scoreless) for Ottawa. |

NHL compensates junior teams $$$ for each eligible player they send to the AHL? |

I don't understand why they don't add Laughton, keep Raffl/McGinn, and drop Dingleberry/Rosebud and Hall. We don't need a good squad playing 1:30/game. We need a 4th line that can play minutes and maybe pot a goal from time to time. Yea, I've heard Hall can win a faceoff. Him going 2-2 on a nightly basis really helps.
McGinn - G - Voracek
Schenn - Vinny - Simmonds
Talbot - Couturier - Read
Rinaldo - Laughton - Raffl
Then when Hartnell comes back, make the decision with McGinn and Raffl. I think both have earned an opportunity to stay on. Might be better to leave Raffl and 4th line and send McGinn back down. This way Berube can also reward/punish players by moving them up/down the lineup and we'd still have 4 lines that can play. Somethings got to change with only having one or two effective lines/game. |

Didn't know that. So the Flames returned him huh? Seems like the logical move. |

Huh? They didn't loan him back.

All of these proposals make sense. There has to be a solution that will be beneficial to all sides here, compared to the current arrangement. |
