Sucks losing but can't win them all. Frustrating game to watch.

I personally really enjoyed the game tonight. Giggy was on fire.

Totally outplayed them in every facet except on the scoreboard. Fleury played a very good game for the amount of quality shots he faced. 0 for 7 on the power play ... felt like I was watching that abortion of a series versus the Bruins last year. Giggy, a tip of the cap to the old guy. He looks like a stud tonight. Nothing we could do about that.

Pens played great, and most of the game in the offensive zone. Avs managed to steal this one for sure. Avs also did a good job of not giving pens any rebounds and the 1st shot was usually covered.

I will have to admit, I did not expect a 1-0 game. Not with these 2 teams.

Crosby is on such an outrageously other level right now, every time he took the ice felt like the Avs were gonna concede a goal. And it seemed like he was out there half the game too. Very stressful. If there is another game stolen by a goalie harder than tonight this season I'd like to see it. Old man Jiggy still has game.

I'm sure Crosby has already sent him a text about it.

The PP's had a lot to do with that. He's fun to watch, that's for sure. He deserved a few points but Giguere locked it down all night.

The Av's need to tighten up the too many men/puck over glass type penalties but they are a solid team, I've watched most of their games so far.

Ok now I think Crosby didn't want the team to score, because of his crazy superstitions.

From the Av's blog:

It was the first time the Penguins were shut out at CONSOL Energy Center in a regular-season game in which Sidney Crosby played. The Penguins had played 87 consecutive regular-season games without getting blanked since a 1-0 loss at Toronto on Feb. 1, 2012.

Oh my god was that something or what? I bet even Mac will look back on that one and smile.

I'm torn on this game. On the one hand we looked like we were a college team playing a pro club in some aspects. On the other, our PK was phenomenal and and J.S. Giguere played out of his mind. Like reminiscent of his coach good. Goes without saying we got work to do but hey, I'll take it. If MacKinnon is even 3/4 as good as Crosby is now, we've got one hell of a player on our hands.

Crosby is on another level...I just watched the 1st period ( I fell asleep after) and he could have easily had 2 or more assists in just that period, every time he had the puck something happened. Very impressive!

I was at this game, and I was completely blown away. I was convinced that the Pens would score at the last minute, but the Avs and their luck held up. They would've lost this if it wasn't for Giggy and Lando's goal. They have to figure out how to shoot more or else they'll get eaten up by other teams. Thank Sakic they only play the Sharks in December.

GET IN FRONT OF THE NET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That was the most dominant 1-0 loss I have ever witnessed. Oddly enough Sid is the only guy willing to go and get the garbage goals.

If I'm on the same team watching our best player get rebounds and tips, I think I learn from it and go to those areas.

That was the Montreal playoffs from several years ago all over again.

That's the beauty of hockey sometimes you deserve a better outcome. I thought Sid and malkin were dominant. Pens made a mistake and the avs capitalized. Jiggy was outstanding. Just not our night on possibly one of our best games this season

Sometimes you just lose games no matter how dominant you play. 1 or 2 minor tweaks to the Pens game and that's a 6-1 rout. They get a guy to the front of the net regularly and this becomes a wake-up call to the young guys in Colorado that "you're good, but you've still got things to learn" that the young Pens got a couple times in about 2007 and 2008 that turned them in a SC finalist and winner.

But honestly, that was one of the best efforts I've seen (minus getting a guy to the front of the net) that I've seen from the Pens for 60-full minutes in a couple years. That was utter domination. They just ran into the goalie that apparently fell out of a time-warp from 2002 and a team where 22 blocked shots somehow doesn't at least generate 1 pinball-style deflected shot.

If they play with that effort and speed every night, they win 102 out of every 100 games they play.

While it wasn't anything breathtaking, you can't argue that he didn't literally deke him right out of his skates.

That was the kind of game where they needed someone from the 3rd or 4th line to chip one in and they don't have that kind of depth at the moment.

Give credit to the Avs... I was at the game last night and I couldn't help but thinking I was watching the Rangers under Torts on the PK. They just packed it in and didn't let shots get through.

Somebody said it earlier, It reminded me of the playoff series with the Bruins... Only working one side of the ice is a problem. I think Letang would have helped in that regard too.

I think Letang has some room for improvement as a PP QB but he certainly would help as a dynamic right handed shot.

Beau Bennett is sorely missed in this regard too Bennett needs to play on first power play when healthy for the sole reason that he is right handed, has sick hands, and would in no way be a liability.
