Its been rough so far. Im not worried about our Centers scoring yet. I was worried about Mitchell's and Greenes skating. Mitchell seems to be getting better as the games go. Greene is looking a little bit flat footed. If we could ever get some production out of our bottom six things would def look alot better. Penaltys have def been a huge issue. Some have said the late pen on Kopi in the Calg game was weak. It was for when it was called. But none the less he still did the crime. If this bottom six doesnt start clicking soon I think we are gonna have to call up some kids and see if we can get something sparked. Though the big 3 in Manch are all minus players and playing so so. |

There was a segment last night on NHL Tonight on who Mike Smith had more goals than so far. One of the players listed was Kopitar with zero. I couldn't believe it and went and looked up his stats. Wow. |

But once he starts itll balance out. Hes nearly a ppg with assists. Im not worried yet. |

Yeah, he does have 8 assists. He might be trying to hard to get other guys going and passing up shots. Getzlaf fell into that mode a few seasons ago, often passing up wide open shots to try and make a perfect pass. Guys like Kopitar and Getzlaf who have scary-hard shots need to be more selfish. Boudreau got Getzlaf to do it last year. |

Kopi has been shooting a bit. Hes had some focus on shooting more. It was the plan. I think hes got a great shot. But as you said. Hes still trying to set everyone up. But I think hes doing the right things. Theyre just not going in atm for him. He is 3rd on the team in shots. Only behind Carter and Williams. |

Its amazing that we have this record. We could easily have a losing record. To many breakdowns in our Dzone, Centers are not scoring and Penalities are just killing us.
The Stars game was the only game that we dominated.
But I'm a Kings fan so I expect this to happen, we're used to this happening why would it be any different |

While it's annoying that the Kings take us on these rollercoaster rides throughout the season I think they'll steady out and end up solid in the standings.
I'm growing a bit tired of Kopitar's goal slumps...he needs to figure out how to shoot more and find the lanes that provide him the space to do so.

2nd in the Metro and 3rd in Atlantic if we're in the Eastern Conference. We're doing fine. |

Kopi will be fine.....he was his old self against the flames, the goals will come. As long as the Kings can improve a little we should be fine.
All the hot teams are impressive right now but we all know that it is way....way more important to go into the playoffs hot. Kings have the talent, it is the chemistry that needs to happen to be poised for the cup run.

Seems the poll results reflect the record confidence falls in the 6 to 7 range.
Sometimes gotta question some of Sutter's game to game line changes.
You dominate Dallas comment how well Nolan played Saturday and then he is scratched on Monday. Maybe he was ill or something, otherwise makes no sense.
Dwight King needs to watch the next game or 2 and not participate. I don't blame him for the last goal on Monday, but I cannot help but wonder if they left someone a bit more skilled out there he might have been able to overcome the mistake by Greene.
The King's schedule through November is a pretty reasonable one. No Blues, Ducks Hawks. Sabres and Devils for 4, Tampa (though they kicked us in Florida) Rangers, Islanders, Preds and Oilers. Isles and Preds are solid, but they are not the Blues, Sharks or Hawks.
That's 18 points at stake, at minimum Kings better pull 12 from those games. I
2 against Phoenix, Vancouver, and San Jose, 1 with AVS
So total 32 possible, need to somehow come up with 20-21 points.
Cuz December starts Blues Ducks on a back to back. Sharks, Hawks couple of times on the road in Montreal and Toronto.
1 Back to back through end of Nov. 3 Back to Backs in December.
Need to pile up points now. |

One was Kopitar? As pointed out on another site, Smith has more goals than all our centers COMBINED!?!?!?!?!
But, really, not worried about that quite yet. Bigger concern for me is D. We all know what we're getting with Regehr, but I think we are missing Scuderi more than most care to admit. And Drew has looked downright mortal so far with the occasional mental lapse. |

Typical useless NHL Tonight stat. Here's another - Mike Smith has played more games in goal than Wayne Gretzky. I guess Gretzky sucks then. |

Great write up Jason. I couldn't find anything to disagree with and I can only reiterate that the Kings goal is to make the playoffs then make their run to the Cup from there. |

Great article as always, Jason!
Looking at Sutter's crazy line combos in practice leaves me scratching my head. If you're going to put Richards on LW then either put Brown on the 2nd line or just move Richards there from the center spot.
Sutter seems to have this love affair with King's play that i'm just not seeing. The guy is not a top 6 player in the NHL.
As far as the Kings in general, this is just how they seem to do things. I would much rather start out middle of the pack than come tearing out of the gate because as we all know, the Kings are not the type of team who can keep that kind of pace through a full season.
