This means that I can finally cheer for Talbot again. Now that he isn't wearing those orange and black rags. |

Hahah we'll live. No worries, I couldn't hate Cindy or Frankenmalkin any more than I already do.
Best of luck to Max. |

All I have to say if half of the reports of abuse are true about Varly he is a psychopath but it just doesnt add up, that girls story is becoming more and more elaborate every time.
On Downie, sad to see him go, but if all of Daters comments are true about losing his poop on the bench all the time, also forgot about the fight with him and Landy during training camp. Maybe they just got tired of his attitude.
Didnt even notice he hasnt scored a goal in 10 games |

The whole thing sounds really strange but you've gotta think that she has the bruises to back some of it up. If she's saying that in the media then she would have had to have something to show the police. It doesn't prove anything but it adds a little credibility I suppose.
The Downie trade is kind of a weird one. I don't get to see a lot of the Avs but I was under the impression that he'd become a pretty key member of the team. My first reaction was that there were issues with him in the dressing room. You don't just get rid of a guy like that after such a good start to the season unless something is wrong. |

Yeah you have to think that there is some truth, but beating her with a bicycle while laughing? WTF
Dater had an article talking about a lot of Downie explosions on the bench after missed calls, didnt see a lot of them watching the games on TV. The penalty issue was a bit troublesome, but yeah unless they dont want to over value him if they dont see him in their Top 6 him, guess get a character guy for a UFA. |

Well it's not a make or break trade either way but if he was becoming a liability it's good that they got him out before it became a big public issue. They're replacing him with a guy who has a league-wide reputation as a good team guy so I think it's a pretty decent trade from the Colorado's end. |

If Varly does play, it will be tomorrow and not during Foote's celebration, imho. I can see JS playing both and im fine with that and most likely so is the team.
As spectators we don't always see or hear what goes on behind the scenes...reports indicate Philly called the AVS asking for Downie. That being said, if the AVS valued Downie, you think they would have obtained a mid round draft pick as well (or where they thankfull Philly called and jumped on the opportunity, cause Downie is troublesome???) who knows
as far as Varly goes....there is probably a little truth to both sides of the story, but the more this women talks the more credibility she loses. too bad for both of them
anyways....go avs go |

Do you guys ever see something that there is no way it is true but just makes a little too much sense?

Once again, there is no way it is true but all of this has been very weird and these allegations seem like total bull. |

The woman accusing Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov of assault and kidnapping said he had been drinking for more than 12 hours before he returned to the downtown Denver apartment they shared and began kicking and beating her.
Vavrinyuk said the incident happened about 6 a.m. Monday, and she decided to call police.
Maybe they (or I) have the dates wrong or something, but if he was drinking for over 12 hours before beating her at 6 a.m., wouldn't that mean he would have been drinking through his entire Sunday night start against the Jets?? |

I do think the trade overall is a good one for the Avs but the timing of it was very strange and I feel like they could have gotten more for him.
Talbot is one of the most liked guys in the league and the type of guy who can win cups. Leadership is very underrated and I think he will be a perfect mentor for RoR.
This also allows for PA to get top 6 ice time as well as lets the Avs move up Mitchell to the 3rd line possibly making it easier to resign him at the end of the year.
This team is starting to shape up like a playoff team under Sakic and Roy sooner rather than later. |

The majority of her quotes, especially the phrase about "if we were in Russia" seem really suspect and the whole thing stinks if you ask me.
Also on a side note can we talk about how in Varly's mug shot he looked like a straight up model lmao.
God the Avs have to be the biggest media headline team in the NHL right now. |

I watched some of the interview , If he was very drunk . How did he kick her in the chest ? She did not look battered . Just saying . If he is guilty - throw the book at him . But I do not think there should be a rush to judgement here . It does not add up at this point.

The thing is that he was one of my favourite Penguins. I had a Talbot t-shirt, that I burned after he signed with the Flyers. He could have signed with any other team and it wouldn't of mattered, but he chose the bastards of Philly.
I was reading a series of tweets from an America based Russian journalist that raised my suspicions. It seems to be a lot going on that the girl can't explain. |

yup, a lot of this said over and over on many a blog today. The trade could of been done today to deflect some of the sting from Varly's arrest, it was also stated that Philly made the call few weeks ago so maybe to the AVS the timing was perfect
maybe the AVS didn't milk it cause they saw the opportunity to kill 2 birds with one stone |

the trade will probably show its true value in the playoffs - that being said, they could have kept downie and still tried to acquire Talbot..they could have given PA top 6 anytime they wants by bumping downie down. and Im really not to fond of having 6 centreman in the lineup on any given nite....just like a few years back when Duchene was playing on Stastny's wing that was painful to watch...sometimes it works, but not with half the line up......Philly's press release said they were looking for scoring ??? really, and from the hi scoring avs you ask for downie? so I think something again smells in this trade. I like both players..were there's smoke theres usually fire |

typically i always thought it seemed pricer to add forwards like talbot for a playoff push and dmen additions were a cheaper. Maybe they think adding talbot now if they dont plan on resigning downie was a better option than over paying at the deadline and then potentially losing downie for nothing. |

But seriously, if even an ounce of what she said is true, this guy needs to be beaten to within an inch of his life and shipped back to whatever poophole he calls home.

Mitchell and Talbot can play all 3 forward positions. RoR has been great on the wing. It never hurts too have too many centers. |

I liked Roy at the end of his presser talking about the trade. When the Flyers asked what they wanted for Downie he said their 1st rounder ha |
