Given their "center depth", what should Toronto do?
(A) Look at all possible trade options before things get bad
43%
(B) Stand pat, remain patient, ride out the storm
6%
(C) Call up best Marlies centerman and keep lines together
31%
(D) Continue experimenting with wingers
18%
(E) SMOKE CRACK !
Definitely (E) |

With the poll almost feel like it needs to be a multiple pick situation. Experimenting with wingers like JVR or Raymond (who played center in Vancouver at times) might be the best solution. We can rely on wingers from the Marlies if we need to call guys up. That's probably the best way to avoid bad trades or unsettling the roster.
At the same time if Nonis has a good stop-gap trade in place he probably should go for it. Be a lot easier to have some stop-gap guy fill in on the second line until Bozak gets back, and then slip that guy and McClement as the 3rd and 4th line centers.
Hopefully this tough situation does make the team better in the end. Be nice to see the group use this as motivation and rise above it. Be really nice if JVR just excelled at the position as well.
On the ever-continuing shots topic, I hope they can tighten up a bit. I do think getting outshot in and of itself doesn't matter. The Leafs are selective in their shooting and don't just want to give the puck right back to the opposition's goalie. But would be nice to see them getting more pressure and not spending so much time in their own zone. |

I'm curious Colin, where do you think the Leafs will be in the standing one month from now?
In your opinion who do you think will step up for the team (call ups?). If things go south for the Leafs in the next 5 games do you think Nonis will make a trade? |

your title has nothing to do with the article - the_cause2000
I opened with:
Shortly following the announcement of the suspension, many felt that the Leafs would struggle to win many games without the agitator in the lineup, in addition to missing forwards Nikolai Kulemin and Frazer McLaren, and defenseman Mark Fraser.
Well, despite the feeling that the Leafs may get off to a slow start without said players, the team went 7-3 during their first ten games played – not bad, if you ask me. Since the return of Clarkson, Toronto has experienced even more injuries with a few close calls to Joffrey Lupul, and most recently Tyler Bozak and Dave Bolland both being placed on the injured reserved. Chaos once again for the Buds…right?
And closed with:
To conclude, while it appears that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in for some troubling times over the next month or so after suffering more injuries, I feel with the right coaching and team effort that they should be able to battle through this challenge as they did to start off the year. |

I thought the title was pretty clever. You get people reading who want the Leafs to suck and you get people who don't want the Leafs to crash and burn. And then of course you get to laugh at anyone who just commented without reading at all . |

Honestly? Tough to say...I think, as I mentioned in the blog, that this month or so will be a true testament to this team. If they can continue to find ways to win games with these key injuries, they might be able to cause some havoc with a full roster. They still have a lot of areas to improve upon with respect to their 5vs5 play, however. |

the team simply can't start relying too heavily on Jon Bernier and or James Reimer to steal games
.....thats what they have been doing since puck drop. Put Toskala in net and they are still searching for their second win. |
