I`m glad this coaching staff realizes the inneffectiveness of a player like Arcobello in the bottom six, even though many on this forum do not. HE IS TOO LITTLE. If he can`t bring something truly amazing to his game (lightning speed, incredible passing, Theo Fleury type grit, etc.) he is not going to stick.

He either has to out-skill and out-finesse the top two centermen, or he has to outmuscle the bottom two, and he is a solid C+ in both categories (with an A+ for effort). Arco doesn`t really have the skill set to be a top six guy and he will never be a bottom six guy, and this is why he will constantly be challenged to crack any lineup. People shouldn`t be comparing him to Gordon and Acton, it`s the whole round peg square hole thing. He should be compared to Gagner and RNH, and he is not going to take those spots. (Gagner isn`t exactly ripping it up though, so perhaps sitting HIM for Arco could make sense). There may well be nepotism concerning Acton, but it certainly is not what is keeping Arcobello out of the lineup.

- Matt_Henderson

Ladies and gentlemen, resist the urge to say that this team needs a bona fide power forward. Just because we need a physical element in the top 6, doesn't mean it needs to be Milan Lucic. Adding size, toughness and defensive acumen should be the goal for the forward core in the go ahead.

On the goaltending front, Dubnyk laid some eggs in the beginning, but I think now we're in a position to play a little more aggressively now that he's found somewhat of a groove. I think it's a big hole going forward on our depth chart, but not worth filling right now.

The unequivocal, who-could-argue-that need is a #1 defenseman, although we would settle for anyone in the top pairing. A perfectly two-way player is most needed in my mind, but I think the Oil would accept all applicants at this point. I would neither underestimate the need for the oilers to find a guy that can both pass and skate, and set the physical tone for the team.

Has anyone else noticed that Nuge has been giving up the puck recently and it's directly led to goals against? He doesn't seem to get flack for that, only Hall and Ebs do.

Not even Hall and Ebs, everyone has been sucking, everyone has been turning over pucks, everyone is minus. Only Yakupov takes flack from the media, gets benched and less ice time.

I'd at least try him in Hemsky's spot for a game or 2 or move Gagner to RW in Hemsky's spot & try him centering Gagner & Yakupov. When RNH & Gagner were injured he looked decent & was actually a plus hockey player. Something none of the top 6 seem to be capable of.

What are you talking about- the only whipping boy has been Yakupov... but ever since he started putting out 3pts in 4 games people are starting to STFU... as for the other kid stars... Eberle Hall Nuge and Schultz and the whole (frank)ing team deserve to get more!
