He didn't always instill confidence with his manic style of play and quirky personality, but Roman Cechmanek won a pair of Bobby Clarke Trophies and was a Vezina finalist (and 4th in Hart Trophy race) one year. Also, Brian Boucher had a hell of a rookie season for the Flyers.

But generally speaking, yes, Mason's first quarter of this season has been among the best here in a long time. As I blogged the other day, I think he's been so consistently good that he deserves consideration for the Olympics (although I don't think Hockey Canada will take him).

Think Ilya Bryzgalov would have handled things that way? Actually, he didn’t. He was very vocal, at times, about the mess around him but not very introspective about the mess within his own mind.

Bryz described himself as a bear lost in the woods while also stating he didn't deserve to be the starter at times. He was his toughest critic to a fault.

I'm glad that Mason has found himself calm and composed in a Flyers jersey, I was never a big Bryzgalov fan, I didn't like the signing and he had to prove himself. The way Bryz would talk to the media about teammates and himself made me lose any liking I had for him. I'm just really glad we have two goalies that can play lights out now.

Just wanted to say thanks to Tim, Bill and the Flyers fan base. After speaking to you guys and seeing how strong Mason has been going back to when he was acquired last season I dumped Anderson this week and slotted Mason into my fantasy team lineup. Already paying off and a good set of match ups for the next 2 weeks.

Scooped up Hartnell, Voracek and Streit off the WW as well.

You may be disappointing with Streit, but the other three should start producing as the season goes on. I also have Mason since the season started, and while he has only recently started getting me wins, he was/is still quite productive from a save % and GAA standpoint.

The overwhelming talk of the Flyers needing a goalie has started to subside over the last couple weeks in the Canada oriented media. I think that says a lot.

I don't think Reimer is going to get an invite so mason's chance are pretty much 0. I'm sure 5 hole luongo will be there though.
