if anything, teammates should apologize to PK. he's the one guy on this team, the one (frank)ing guy, who shows up night in, night out. of course no one else would have taken that penalty last night because no one else gave a poop. |

This was an assertion of power; of "You may be going to Sochi, but you still play for me, and you're going to play my way."
Isn't that the exactly what a coach is paid for?
Also, Subban's TOI/G is 25:12
Last night, he played close to 23 minutes.

If and when Mike is gone as the head coach - do you think MB will go out and get a French coach or do you think he will go out and get the best available coach?

I don't see anything wrong with not pulling the goalie. The message to me was if you want a chance in the last minute maybe you should play for the first 59. |

I've already said my piece about the Subban benching and I think you're bang on EE that numerous other players could have taken that penalty without getting a consequence. You make good points about the Budaj pulling thing that I had not considered. I've never been a big fan of Therrien's; even more so this year, as he's playing favourites.
When he was hired, I claimed that he'd help along many of the kids in the organization find the type of work ethic needed to succeed at this level, but he'd last about 2 years before players started tuning him out. Looks like my initial assessment (I'm aware that it was shared by many) is pretty much accurate. |

i don't mind that either. but the singling out of PK for a stupid penalty on a night when the entire team doesn't show up is stupid. |

Come on, Marty. Are you seriously defending Therrien in all of this? It's more than just TOI; it's the timing of the benchings, the way he talks about PK in public, the way he plays favorites. He's a terrible coach.

SLEW-Ban is an idiot, Therrien is exactly right in how he dealt with him

wouldn't count on Therrien going anywhere for another year at the absolute minimum. |

He also coached Pacioretty, Price, and Subban in Hamilton. To great success. |

If anybody else takes that penalty do they get benched? I guess that's the question. I realize PK is far and away ( maybe Patches aside ) the best player on the team but that doesn't put him above it.

As much as I think we could avoid another RandyGate with MB in charge - I believe recent history would repeat itself |

Maybe a playoff sweep would do it, or missing them. |

He also singled out the rest of the team when he told them that they don't deserve to have an extra attacker at the end of the game. |

don't think they'll miss them because A) the East sucks and B) we have great goaltending. but they're getting wiped out in the first round again, of that i don't think anyone has any doubts. |

I'm not defending therrien as much as I tend to lay blame on the players for their counter performance. They didn't show up, they played like pussies yet, all you hear this morning is how Subban is mistreated by the coach.
Last night, Subban was part of the problem, not part the solution. Benched or not, there was no way they were winning that game. |

as a collective, yes. anyway i don't think it matters. no benching, pulling the goalie... would not have made a difference last night. |
