Thats not a top UFA. Personally i think the guy is overrated and it seems as if some (not all) rags fans would agree. Good player when he isnt hurt, but certainly far from a top UFA.

He's a good player. Heart and soul kind of guy but his injuries are a concern. He'll be asking for a legnthy contract for that reason and some team will give it to him.

I just dont think we need to change our forwards this offseason much. Top line is one of the best in the league, secondary scoring starting to pick up. We need to address D and G as we all know. If we had a halfway decent D and G this year, then we would be in significantly better shape. Viz, Strait ad now Hamonic being hurt doesnt help our cause but deep teams can overcome injuries. Our D is far from deep.
If Vanek walks, our moron GM should be canned but we all know that will never happen. If Snow can get Vanek signed, upgrade goaltending and D, then maybe ill change my views of him. However until that happens, ill look at him like the lame duck that he is.

Honestly everybody wants to be in Hawaii but these guys have the rest of their lives to be Out West. Al Arbour didn't have much of an opinion of Long Island until he came here. Having spent time out west, I don't see Minny, St Louis or his home state of Michigan as paradise. Not getting my hopes up but these aren't guys making 30K a year so they can live anywhere they want in the off season including Long Island where Bill Guerin and alot of ex-players live.
