Steve Palumbo: Ducks Will Finish Strong and Dan Girardi in Anaheim? - Steve Palumbo
I've heard the Blue shirts are going to pay Girardi and let Callahan walk, probably to Tampa in exchange for Marty St. Louis. Too bad, Girardi would have fit in nicely. Then again, Murray has stated the team doesn't like rentals, they rarely work. After what happened last year with Iginla, it's hard to argue with him.
The availability of Kesler is intriguing. I know Murray has a serious man-crush on him and he still has a year left on the contract, so he's not a rental. But the broken hand and the fact that Gillis is going to want a king's ransom for him means it probably won't happen, but still... Getzlaf, Kesler, Bonino, & Koivu down the middle. Damn! |

The Rangers are definately willing to move Girardi. Are you willing to give up any of the extra 1st, Etem or Vatanen? |

You will be trading for Vanek and Amac... you don't need Girardi. |

Number one picks in this year's draft don't carry as much weight they normally would. i really hope girardi stays in NY, but anaheim would be scary with him. if they were to add him to the blue line, then they'd be my pick to win the Cup. |

Really? I've heard that negotiations are proceeding with Girardi's agent now that Callahan is all but gone. I think the Ducks first would be involved but I don't know if they'll let Vatanen go for a rental. I think the first and Luca Sbisa would be the offer to NY. |

A 1st and Vatanen for Girardi seems fair. I'll even throw in another prospect. But I can't do it if he's not signed. The $5.5-6 million a year seems fair too. Girardi has exactly what we're lacking, toughness and a shut-down quality (see what he's done to Ovechkin). And I'd imagine he will flourish in this system.
Now, if you'll take Sbisa too, I'll be thrilled. But the Rangers already rid themselves of Del Zotto. I'm pretty sure Del Zotto and Sbisa are the same player. |

Ducks would look very strong if they can add Girardi. I hate his contract demands though. If they can get him for Ducks 1st and Virtanen they should jump at it.
I still see them trading some goalies away and signing Miller off season as well. |

I see the Ducks offering up a 1st and Sbisa, Rackell, Smith-Pelly or Steckel. |

They're still about .5m apart and though they have offered him a deal he still seems intent on waiting until FA to see what he can get. Sather said he won't let the DL go by without getting something for him. I'd take Sbisa, Vatanen or Rickell and a late 1st for him. That's more than fair I think. |

Sbisa and a late first - DONE! Even just to rent him this year. How about just Sbisa and Rickell?
You spoke too soon. I was going to substitute Ottawa's first for our late first if you took Sbisa off of our hands. |

Sbisa, Ottawa's 1st and Friberg and it's a deal. We'd need a little more than just the 1st/Sbisa for him, he's an important part of the defense. |

Stop it. If the rangers deal Girardi to Anaheim, vatanen will be in the deal. Not Sbisa.... |

They need a roster dman back in the deal so I thought Sbisa. Vatanen could be the prospect which would be better but then no 1st probably. And he's not ready to step into the lineup yet. |

He's a rental. There's no chance you'll get the Sens first unless Girardi signs a long term deal. Besides, if they're only 1/2 a mil apart as someone posted then a deal will get done and this is all moot. |

Friberg isn't the prospect that Vatanen/Rickell are, so I switched the 1sts. And I wouldn't be so sure the deal will get done with Girardi, Sather will not budge much. I think it's 50/50 he's a goner. And I guess a Ducks fan with YzermanNeely as their screename would know about switching around. |

I am hearing that Myers is available... I love Girardis game for sure. But if BOB was even thinking about giving up The Vatman, you have to get Girardi to sign an extension. I dont see that happening (unless he wants to be in So Cal). I like Myers for virtually the same contract (maybe even less that what Girardi will command) and he is younger. But what would Buffalo want? Vatenan, Sbisa, Ducks first pick and maybe a prospect (Rackell, Smith-Pelly)? And if that really happens, you are only adding $1.5-$2 mil in salary (knowing Vatenans cap hit will be up here next year). We have the money to spend. |

You obviously don't know much about Vatanen. He IS a roster d-man ready to step in and NOT a prospect.
No way is Murray going to give up all these big assets for a 4 month rental of Girardi. If the price isn't right I say he leaves the team alone. Best he'd give up is a 1st and one of the kids/prospects. |

Wow the blues are going to be hard to beat now. The Ducks sure could use some more offensive fire power (Vanek) to score goals against Miller and the Blues! |
