I can't help but feel sorry that we got Aquaman as an owner instead of Tom Galardi. I won't imagine that GMMG is going anywhere, and I think Torts is stuck in Vancouver for at least another year. I wish my job came with a guaranteed contract. Aquaman is too cheap, and GMMG is too arrogant to admit a mistake.

I bet the twins are traded at the draft, for a first rounder and a roster player. A deal similar to the Schneider one in terms of tastes in the mouth. Toronto perhaps?
The old Sundin in reverse - then our decent into mediocrity would be complete and we will be the next Nashville or Columbus for years to come.

Kesler... big (frank)ing surprise. I said it at the deadline, the biggest threat about waiting to make the trade is his health. So let me guess....off season surgery?

I hardly think the owner is too cheap.... he sure throws money around for a cheap guy. Sundin, Luongo, Booth, Ballard, having 2 NHL starters last season making 10 mil....

I don't see any reason to believe that the twins will be moved in the off season.

Agreed. That's the main reason why I was advocating for him to be traded last summer. He's a great player but always seems to break down leading up to the playoffs. Then we get a hobbling Rambo full of praise for his sacrifice but producing little on that stat sheet.

There has been little discussion on this but what do you folks think it does to the locker room when players are continually asking to be moved elsewhere? Are those players alienated? Does it cause division amongst the ranks? Four straight years of players asking to be traded has to say something about the organization.

Doesn't sound like Kesler asked to be traded, Luongo is the only one and he's gone....

Bieksa, Hamhuis, Sedins, Burrows all seem like they'd like to stay in the city.(Apparently Burrows would waive for MTL though).

I think this really depends on whether you believe these players are in fact asking to be traded. Luongo did. I've read mixed opinions on Kesler.

In the end of the day people ask to be traded for all sorts of reasons. I think most people realize this is a business and not a family reunion gone badly.

Not gonna tough that one, too many arguments for and against this. Basically MG's word against Cody's.

Mathieu Schneider was another guy, but that was a long time ago.

Besides, I thought we were discussing the current locker room?

That's case of who do you believe - Gillis or CoHo + Dad?

As I said, people ask to be traded for all sorts of reasons but it usually boils down to lack of playing time or financial disputes. That's not a fundamental issue with an organization but more a product of the business aspect - players wanting to maximize their earnings potential or actual wages.

The day players begin demanding trades because of the way Aquillini or Gillis are managing the organization or the coach is managing the team is the day to revisit your question.

Drafted players (2014) aren't going to help this team for at least three years, nice to see them win and Burrows to get a few.

Maybe sooner if they get into the top 5.

Possibly, but I see them picking around 10th.

I bet the twins would retire before agreeing to a trade.

From Jason Botchford:

According to Friedman, Colorado is on Kesler’s list. This is a bit of a game changer.

For starters, Kesler’s agent Kurt Overhardt lives in Denver, and that can’t hurt.

Luongo’s agent Pat Brisson strongly suggested he put together the Canucks-Panthers deal in two days, something Gillis and co. couldn’t do in two years.

Maybe Overhardt can go to work in Denver.

The Avs, obviously, have Ryan O’Reilly, who sets the Canucks hearts aflutter on the regular.

And yes, I know the Avs/Roy love ROR.

But ROR is due a $6.5 million qualifying offer in the summer, and he seems to love his money.
