What an awesome day yesterday, golfed (4 over), cut the grass for the first time this year (yard looks great, trees blooming) and got the boat ready for some Hali fishing tomorrow.

I was listening to the sports market today on the 1040. Tom Meyenak or whatever his name is , said it is amazing how quick the Canuck branding is dropping. I didn't listen to why but made my own assumption.

I think back in their hayday they had a lot of unlikable characters, such as Lu Kesler Burrows Sedins Torres. We never won the big one but strutted around like we were the best. We think we deserved entitlement . Now that we are not winning we are seeing what other fans seen.

I know the previous offseason we were calling for Keslers head, and calling him a selfish jerk.

Lefty said it just recently calling Burrows a POS.

The Sedins have been called sisters and as most know I am not a fan.I like Hank but hate the two or nothing package.
Torres was a tyrant.

The saving grace of these characters amongst the fans was ,that they were winning. Now that the winning is coming to an end even the fans are getting tired of the dog and pony show ,starting with ownership and flowing downhill.

I think it is time to strip down to the bone and start new. We have some decent pieces .

Sedins aren't moveable.. and not for the value they deserve.

The oilers made a few mistakes with this recent re-build... 1 being that they aren't drafting players based on need.. and/or moving those picks to drop a couple spots while attaining a couple nice pieces too. And they veteran guys they decide to keep are wayyyy past their prime.. and they continue to lose for such an extended period of time that the losing mindset becomes the norm.

You want to avoid missing the playoffs for more than a couple years.. and you want to keep some top guys.. to ensure this team doesn't embarrass themselves. We don't need a full on re-build.. we just need a re-tool. Draft a top 8 guy this year... trade Kesler for a couple nice pieces.. and hopefully trade Edler for something decent.. and we are in a good position. Assuming Lack/Markstrom can stay consistent.. this team will be in the playoffs again next year. Which is not too great if you look at the whole picture.

This team is going no where until we get new ownership or until FA realizes he must not be involved, it is going to take years for that to happen and by years I mean a decade or 3. I don't think Gillis will be fired, the value of the team has gone up 200% under his tenure. Gillis has to grow some balls and tell FA to step away or he will quit. If the value of this team starts to fall, I see FA messing with it even more trying to save face.
This is the beginning of the end of the Aquilinis, I hope.

I honestly think this is the only year we will miss, just like the turnaround period of the West Coast Express.When they finally broke up the core they were back quickly into contention.
