Wait if you didn't beat the Canucks wouldn't you have been in Floridas spot and picking number 1. Almost better now to be at 3 and have the hand dealt to you.

Picking 1 or 2 would have been just no stop media second guessing why didn't you pick player A or B instead

Here's something I wanted to get an opinion on. A lot of you guys are apparently scared off by the fact that Ekblad gets a large part of his points on the PP as opposed to ES.

The fact still remains though that he's a GOOD defensive player at ES, and with our PP and defensive scoring this year utterly stunted, in large part because we lack that big shot from the point, why is it a knock to see that this kid flat out dominated the PP?

If the Oil had won the Lottery I would had say take Ekblad,now if Ekblad gets pass by Florida and Buffalo then I think the Oil should take him,and use Gagner and other prospect to get his replacement as a 2C.

I think even strength production just translates better

The knock I'm most concerned with is that people claim he may be close to plateauing. Don't know where this overwhelming feeling came from, but that's worrying

Only way I see you draft ekblad if it's a choice bw him and reinhart, if the other 2 are available, but I can't see the draft going off the rails that much

I suppose it's more varied and thus more mappable. That makes sense.

gotta figure a smooth stride and a big shot translate no matter what though.

I haven't read too much about him, but if you want a defenseman, the best you can hope for is in drafting the overwhelmingly top-ranked guy.
