Lucic got a measly $5k fine and said it's maybe the THIRD time he has done something like that while Perry got nothing. I am unsure how saying that it's only the third time is some kind of an excuse, as the first time should be a healthy fine or a suspension while the second definitely should draw one. It's hard for anyone to take what the league will do seriously when they don't show the guts to make a hard but right call by suspending Lucic and Perry each one game. - airjan23
I heard his 'third time' - in seven years - comments, and to follow it up with "I believe in playing by the rules"...well, I lol'd. The fine doesn't send enough of a message (and 5 grand is a night at the casino for Lucic, I'm sure), and while a one game suspension would be a start, I think it should be a bit harsher for that particular 'invasion of personal space'.
Anyhow, looking forward to seeing how this game goes. I hope any adjustments that Berube may have made can at least wake the Flyers up to the importance of today. Have fun, guys. |

Jan Levine: Game 2: NYR-PHI, My Six Keys, Thoughts on Lucic/Perry/Seabrook
Rangers aim to take a 2-0 series lead Sunday at MSG - airjan23
good write up but mason probably doesn't have a concussion. he is working out and practicing on the ice with the team. more likely a whiplash injury or his knee which was bent back on the hit.
good luck today and let's hope nobody get hurt out there |

Nice work Jan, the league has zero interest in player safety, they'll send a message to a guy like Raffi Torres but as soon as it involves teams that provide revenue they make it up as they go, the Lucic fine is a farce |

You are so right.
I just know if that was Scott or Kaleta, they would probably get at least 5 games suspension.
This bias for Bruins is getting out of control. |

Man, Hal Gill is still around? Had no idea -- I remember he was a force for Montreal one year in the playoffs. |

The fact that Jacobs (Bruins owner) & Bettman are very close is frightening. Bruins already have a bully mentality as a team, getting slaps on the wrist like this just embolden their sense f invulnerability. |

Well, I assuming that if someone tries to remove Lucic's balls then that would only be a 5k fine. Seems well worth it to me. |

Absolutely Pete. Lets see a Detroit player do the same thing from behind on Lucic's first shift & see what happens. |

One of the few players left older than me. |

the league will not stand for players removing their helmets to fight! but apparently, stuff like this is ok.

It really opens your eyes when there's no one in the League older than you. Hell, I still call Jagr 'Kid' when I'm yelling at him through the TV.

Thank God for Jagr...Messier playing till he was 45 kept my Uncle from saying there was a player in the league older than him(he was a yr younger than him) for those last few yrs of his career. Mess & Mike Gartner were one of the few who played in 4 different decades (1979-04), really amazing considering the miles especially Mess put on with the way he played & all the long playoffs series he battled in. |

Good blog Jan. Saw you post the tweet of BroadStBull and bout the Flyers being down 0-2 in series. Obviously the Flyers have somewhat recent history of being down 0-3 to the Bruins and coming back. But the if the Rangers win today than I expect this sereis could all be over. It will truly show the Flyers cannot win as MSG. If the Flyers win, than the series is going 7 games I feel. Just no way around it. |
