JMO, but I thought last night was Letang's second best game in the play-offs. Felt his best game played in a long, long time was game five against Columbus when he got the empty net goal at the end. He had a special night defensively.
Need the same compete level tonight in order to have a chance to take game three. MSG will be nuts. I wonder how tired and banged up the Rags are with this schedule. |

All true, thanks Gunner. Lets not forget the lack of mistakes, at least the turnovers they committed(8) were balanced by takeaways(7). Less turnovers would be better but tenacity on the Ranger player even after the turnover was committed limited shots and of course goals. MAF was excellent, team defense was outright crazy solid. They won 80% of the puck battles, I swear. |

Knowing Bylsma, Scudari will stay up. Hard to bench a player you brought on for a cup run for one who was called up to replace another injured player, but at least Glass is down for Gibbons.
However is Orpik even close to returning? I doubt today, but is wednesday probable? |

Even though he did not score on it, that burst of speed by Kunitz to start that breakaway was quite impressive.

Goc has been good since he returned. He helped to stabilize that third line. He, Bennett and Sutter have been good together. Goc has a little more edge than I originally thought.
Carcillo still has a severe case of Snappy Neck Syndrome. |

Controversial post: I tried to watch last night's game, but I just couldn't. I couldn't want either team to win, I didn't want either team to lose more than the other, and frankly I think the Rangers are an awfully boring team to watch (I don't think the Pens are particularly exciting, but I think Rangers games rival C-SPAN in terms of excitement). |

This team is dialed in. Last night during the 3rd period when it was still one-one, the Malkin unit committed a turnover that was starting to look like a scary 3 on 2. Malkin dug in, backchecked and negated the play. There were plays like that all over the ice. They need to put the hammer down and grind them to dust tonight. That Garden crowd will be nuts, but get a couple quick goals and they are just as likely to turn on the Rag$. |

Having Goc back has really allowed Bylsma to keep Sid and Geno together on a line. Not only having that extra Center in the lineup, but one that wins a ton of faceoffs and is defensivley responsible and can PK.
Survive the firs 5-10 mins of a juiced up Rags crowd that will breathe some life into them, and then rinse, cycle and repeat game 2. Henrik is playing very well, but coming in waves on a tired team will crack him eventually. |

That Goc and Gibbons pairing on the PK is dangerous. They seem to get a chance going the other way every time they are out together. Goc is great at disrupting the PP and then finding Gibbons breaking once he gets the puck. Im not sure why they are rolled out as the 2nd PK behind Sutter and Adams at this point. |

The Rangers are essentially the Blue Jackets but with less physicality and better goaltending. |

He has been really good. It's nice to not have to close your eyes when the bottom 6 hits the ice.
Gibbons has also been a breath of fresh air, the forechecking through lines 1-4 was great last night.
Can't say enough about Hank, that was quite a performance.
I like getting out on the road now, win tonight and the Rangers will start feeling the pressure and their fans won't let them forget. |

Ryan, is there a website that shows who the Ranger's top line was matched up against during the game? Just curious. |

The entire league has a case of the dives. Kunitz has been embellishing a lot lately as well. Fans shouldn't really complain about it because every single team does it. |

Go Pens (for this series at least). That game was a thing of beauty. Especially after the 1st period.
I wanted the Devils to trade for Goc at the deadline, as his underlying numbers were very good on a bad team and he can actually win face-offs. Instead they decided to go for another "physical veteran presence" and traded for Ruutu. It was a smart pickup by Shero though. |
