I am thinking along same lines. I'd be ok with a deal up to around $2.3mm. Ideally, he gets same deal as Couturier |

I'm really curious as to why the Kings agreed to that kind of contract for Schenn if it was going to bite them in the butt later on. The lack of these kinds of contracts in the league must mean something. |

This is a tough call. I think B Schenn is a good player, but not worth $3MM. Yes he hit the 20 goal mark, but he dissappears for stretch sat a time. At the same time I'd hate to see him leave only to become a top player. |

I'm fine with Schenn getting somewhere between 2.5-2.75 mill on a 2 year deal. I'm assuming he's looking for a similar bridge contract in terms of length, so no more than 3 years.
The cheaper, the better obviously. It already looks like we're going to have to move a body or two around if we want to get better. |

Not going to be hexy problem. He's getting traded. I can see a schenn, coburn, #1 pick and prospect for a dman trade at the draft. |

They better not give him a subban type bridge deal. He doesn't deserve more than coots that's for sure. Thinks he's gonna force a trade if he wants more $ |

Whats the point of trading Coburn for a dman? He is currently the only dman we have that can play on a top pairing, so if you move him, you just create another hole. |

A # 1 dman. I should've been more specific. I like coburn but he's going in a package if we get a #1. Other team is going to want a semi competent replacement on the d part of the trade to replace their dman. Coburn is only one young with nhl experience that fits that bill. |

I just don't see it, I don't see any team that is willing to trade a #1 dman in today's NHL.
Doughty, Subban, Suter, Weber, Karlsson, Chara, OEL, Pietrangelo, Keith; do you really see any of these guys getting traded? |

It's a great breakdown of how important Couturier is to the team, but he wanted security and signed his contract on the back of a rough 12-13 season where he only scored 15 points in 46 games and Holmgren got him at a bargain rate. If he had waited till now he would have been able to demand significantly more money.
I think it's better to compare Schenn to scoring centers who signed as RFAs, like Kadri, Stepan and now Johnson. Schenn's stats this year are inferior to all of their stats in the season before they became RFAs so he can't reasonably demand as much money as they got. |

somewhere in the middle...maybe 2.5 per.
He is not gonna get 3 considering thats about what Kadri/Stepan make and they have been more productive the last couple years |

I can see a scenario where both sides go year to year, similar to Voracek's situation before he signed his extension. One year deal around $2.3 million, gives Schenn an opportunity to improve his worth. The Flyers get a fair deal and still control his rights next season.
I would be very surprised if Schenn gets an offer sheet after this past season. Btw, with all the bonuses, what would be the qualifying offer for him. Ten percent off his base salary, or from his cap hit? |

Just a hunch but I think he gets 3-3.5 per for 3 years. Hopefully he gets a sweet deal in both term and annual salary and the Flyers can lock him up instead of bridge him. I think if it's a two year deal it would be about 5.5 million total. |

Completely agree!
Can't see his agent agreeing to under $3M a year though. |

I don't see it either ( all the above) but a solid 2nd man is what would benefit this team. Someone who has size and can shoot. I would love to have Myers, as I have said before.. He is still young and a change of scenery could help.
Simply... The D must be upgraded |

This is based on them trading VL and Grossmann
I thought that Alberts would be a cheap replacement for Gill as a 7th dman, though I would assume that if someone has a longterm injury they would either bring up Alt, Ghost or Hagg or make a deal. I know I'm rolling the dice with Lauridsen as the 6th dman, but in this lineup, he would only be getting a protected 10-12 minutes a game and maybe some fill in time on the PK.
Thoughts? |

Agreed, I'm just not willing to trade Coburn for a guy like Myers or someone else of that ilk. |
