He's nothing special and there are a lot of other players that should've been taken instead of him. I for one wanted Severson and still do

there's literally no metric for gauging those types of players.

I suppose that's why the backes' and the lucic's are so rare and such a sought after commodity.

until proven otherwise; it's probably prudent to assume moroz is a 3rd line plugger/crasher type AT BEST.
same for khaira.

I don't get excited anymore when we have guys that are men playing against boys in Junior. Maybe Moroz is more than the Jacques, Winchester or more recently Hamilton or Martindale, but it will be up to him to take that next step and be able to play against guys with similar size.

Honestly I'd be happy with that at this point. This team can't develop a 3rd liner for the life of them.

It's the problem I've had with alot of our drafting where size has been drafted hoping to find that player. Moroz could still have a future but I have a feeling in a few years we are going to look back at that draft and see players who we should have taken before him

At the time, I felt like we ended up with later value in the draft that made up for Moroz being taken early. I have no objection to him as a player, merely his draft position.

I think he scored high on character marks (read: Oil Kings guys), a category that's rated awfully high in the oilers organization chiefly out of a reaction to guys like Heinrich and Mikhonov, and Schremp.

As for Moroz being there in the 3rd or 4th, I thought PHX was taking him or someone else if we didn't.

I understand the attraction to size. All teams want he next Lucic or Chara. But, you also need a head, hands and be able to skate.

I thought Moroz played a good game. But other forwards like Mantha, Richard and especially, Lazar look like they have that extra gear that gets them to the NHL level.

Its impossible to say that Moroz will be a success or not..all depends if he can translate his game to the next level. From what I've seen and heard he seems to have the right character and personality to do so.

while this is true generally speaking, and probably the biggest reason so many of these types fail in the show to be the lucic types.
skating isn't an exact metric in their case either.

lucic, who has a pretty ugly and awkward gait, has worked on his skating enough so that not only is he capable of playing top 6, his skating has actually become an asset to him.

and of course those guys like Richard and lazar you mentioned are great skaters. guys like that CANT be effective in the show unless they are such strong skaters. (in Richards case with his size, that might not even be enough)
while guys like moroz who play a certain style with that size CAN be mediocre skaters and still be effective

If they want to keep moroz'as scoring touch going, he needs to play with either arco bello or lander. If I'm oilers management I would be making sure he's playing top 6 minutes In Okc

I'm still pissed at the musil pick
With their CSS final rankings in North American skaters

Jenner 18
Gibson 1 in goalies
Jurco 20
Rattie 17
Rask 12 in europe
Ritchie 36
Saad 19
Sproul 54
Harrington 98
Jaskin 5 in Europe

All players I'd take ahead of him. As you can see, some talent was bypassed since musil was 38.
