Bob won some games for us in the playoffs and has showed he can play with a sizable contract, I say give him something in the 6 year range

Deserves is a word that always sparks debate over the pissing contest of who is an elite goalie or not... however, he without a doubt earned a big contract from the Blue Jackets.

I'd like to see a bigger body of work and playoff performance (his performance in playoff games has been less than stellar for both Flyers and Jackets) before signing him to a long multiyear deal, but bottom line is he is their best option and a solid one at that.

should get the same as Varlys contract, I think thats fair value
5year 29.5m contract. Gets paid and still is a good contract for the team to have flexibility cap wise

6 mill per seems about right.

I will say that I expected him to play better in the series vs the Pens.

My thoughts exactly. 6 yrs, 36-38 million. Bob is solid in net and a crowd favorite. I hope that as we become a perennial playoff team, Bob gets more games under his belt and stops letting in all those softies we saw against Pitt.

Why sign him now? He's a RFA at the end of upcoming season and you still would retain control. Let him play out this year then sign him to a long term deal.

Last year he signed a 2yr 11.25 million contract. 5mil this year and 6.25 the upcoming season. So if he puts up another All star season theres a good chance he good be making north of 7mil. Pekka Rinne makes 7mil and Lundqvist makes 8.5mil. So the price for top tier goalies is north of 7mil. I think had last year was possibility to get him at lower cap hit long term with like a 5yr deal but with a rising salary cap and increase salary for goalies its very possibly you could be looking at 7mil or higher cap hit.
