Carter let him stay at his house? Richards bought him breakfast? Those guys are bumholes - Jsaquella
No one on the Flyers would ever do something like that. What a horrible organization the Flyers are. |

There is more than stats involved when evaluating the team impact of trades, eh Tim? You have been in this business a long time, and it shows. |

The Kings are clearly a cut above many other franchises in this league.
Kings east has a lot of work to do to try and follow suit. |

Maybe if Richards and Carter did that in Philly, instead of taking everyone to bars, they'd still be there! FACT is, they were immature and whiners, especially Richards! I'd do the trades of both of them over again in a second! |

Tough guy.... but first out of the room? Am I just not understanding something since its early in the morning, or is that highly contradictory? |

I think, Tim neglected to mention, that coach Stevens baked him a cake. |

I know, it's as if newcomers are always treated like black sheep but here's Richards taking him out for breakfast like he's Mother Teresa and now they're in the Finals.
I guess the other teams in the league are full of unfriendly, stingy jerks -- but nope, not those LA Kings. Darn friendly gents, those guys are, and look where it's taken them. |

Yeah Tim, I'm not quite sure where you are going with this. I'm pretty sure Richards & Carter might of picked that up from Danny Briere who took in Coots and Giroux to live with him and his boys when they were Rookies. I can't tell whether this should be shocking or... what? |

When Carter & Richards were traded, they were not the men they are today. They were very wealthy young kids. Richards was anointed the soon to be next captain by the media. He was a leader all through Juniors, so that projected him be an NHL captain. At a meet and greet with the players, I told Richie the rookie "your gonna be the man around here for a long time". The look on his face was shock, he was obviously taken back. They gave the team to Richards at too young of an age. He was still a party boy, who should not have been given that responsibility.
Enter Sean O'Donnell, this dude was an aging veteran who was way more mature then his young captain, who came to Philly for a chance to win it all. When Richards pouted about not being on the All Star team, saying he wouldn't participate if added to squad due to injury. It was Sean O'Donnell who spoke up and basically called him a baby in a very nice way. It's an honor to go to the all star game, you have plenty of opportunities to hang out with your buddies on vacations. That was the year things started falling apart in the locker room.
Richards was a shock trade. But I have to admit, I didn't like his pissy attitude during interviews during his last year. Not just TP but all reporters. Your supposed to be the captain, act like it. I got tired of his short clipped answers. Obviously the mature veterans, more well suited for the Captaincy were in his ear, to no avail.
He could not stay here. He could not be the captain any longer. He had to be traded.
Today: I'd trade Richards for Simmonds straight up. Flyers would probably have to throw something else in the package... Oh and we got Brayden Shenn who is only 22! We haven't learned much about expectations piled onto a stud. I want to see Shenn in another year or two.... And in a Flyers sweater... Unless of course we have to trade up and get to pick Ekblad...Stud!! |

WOW Carts really looks like a hockey player now eh? No more pretty boy, lol no teeth and all scarred up. I think playing with kings made him realize scoring isn't only thing a hockey does for his team. IMO he seems like a complete player now, but of course I've only seen a sample size of his play recently. |
